Dallas Cowboys, Seattle Seahawks fight to avoid fifth loss of season on FOX Sunday

Seahawks-at-Cowboys-Picks

Last season, the Dallas Cowboys and the Seattle Seahawks combined to lose just eight games.

They've got eight losses between them now through just seven weeks, and one of these two will end up with a fifth loss already on the young season on Sunday.

WHEN THE SEATTLE SEAHAWKS HAVE THE BALL

The Seahawks might have a great rushing attack, but so much of that is due to the fact that Russell Wilson scrambles and makes something out of nothing. The receivers he's working with are garbage, and the offensive line has gotten him sacked a whopping 31 times this year, more than any other quarterback has been sacked in the NFL.

Imagine if a quarterback with no mobility was behind this offensive line? Seattle would be a 1-6 team at this point and wouldn't be anywhere near the postseason.

So many of Seattle's scores this year have come off of big plays rather than sustained drives. Five TDs have already been of the 40+ yard variety this year, and that doesn't include Tyler Lockett's two special teams scores.

Though the quick strike is devastating if you're on the wrong side of live betting, more often than not, the Seattle offense isn't going to get in the end zone. Steven Hauschka has more made field goals (16) than extra points (14), something which is good news for Dallas' live bettors in this one.

The Cowboys can get after the passer for sure, especially now that Greg Hardy is in the fold, and though they're ranked in the bottom 10 in the league in a number of important defensive categories, so many of the scores they've allowed have either been thanks to the offense, the special teams, or some sort of fluky plays. The schedule hasn't helped matters either.

WHEN THE DALLAS COWBOYS HAVE THE BALL

Dez Bryant could be back in the lineup this week, and for anyone who watched Cole Beasley try to catch the ball last week, you know that that's good news for Matt Cassel.

Cassel wasn't as bad as he seemed in a 17-of-27 effort against the Giants in which he was picked off three times in a span of just five passing attempts. He obviously did enough to free up some space for Darren McFadden in the running game. Run DMC had his best game in years, running for 152 yards on 29 carries.

Of course, we don't expect McFadden to have that much work again. It could be former Seahawks back Christine Michael getting a lot of the call, especially with Joseph Randle hurting with a back problem suffered last week.

The Seahawks can play defensively for sure, but we're still not sold their problems are fixed after they dominated the 49ers. This schedule has been pathetically weak so far, and the only games against legitimate teams Seattle ran up against all saw teams score at least 27 points.

TREND TO TRACK

The Seahawks have played four games against teams with .500 records or better this year, and they're 0-4 SU and 0-3-1 ATS in those games. The common thread is one which live bettors really need to consider. Seattle just hasn't played well in the fourth quarter of said games. Remember that the Seahawks have had a fourth quarter lead in all seven games they've played this year, yet they're only 3-4.

It's also worth noting that Seattle has covered just one of the eight halves of football it has played against the Rams, Panthers, Bengals and Packers this year, something else which has to have the antennae of live bettors up.
