Denver Broncos biggest NFL Week 3 favorites over San Francisco 49ers

Niners-at-Broncos.ar

No team is favored by more points on the NFL Week 3 preseason odds than the Denver Broncos.

Live bettors should be reacting fast and furiously heading into what could be a very interesting game against the San Francisco 49ers.

QUARTERBACK ROTATION

In our eyes, Peyton Manning is ready for the regular season. Not surprisingly, he has passed the test of preparing for the Gary Kubiak system, and we don't think he'll need to play all that long in this game.

However, with as well as Brock Osweiler has looked, will it matter to live bettors. Osweiler continue to generate touchdown drive after touchdown drive here in the preseason, which is why Denver is 2-0 SU and ATS in the early going.

The 49ers won't open up their passing game this week either in all likelihood. They only threw it 17 total times against the Cowboys in Week 2 of the preseason last week, and just one pass covered more than nine yards.

Live bettors should always be concerned when it comes to who is under center, but it might mean less in this game to the 49ers than ever before. Colin Kaepernick will start, but whether he plays a full half or not is to be determined. We really don't have any hints yet with this being Jim Tomsula's first year on the job as a head coach.

Either way, we know that both Blaine Gabbert and Dylan Thompson are going to see time under center as well.

WHEN DENVER HAS THE BALL

Osweiler hasn't quite been as efficient as Manning, but he is completing 61.1 percent of his passes and has put together a QB rating of 91.4 thus far in the early going. It's his command of the offense which is really the best sign going forward for Denver, as we are finding out that he is a good quarterback when throwing the ball on the move.

Let's remember as well that the Denver ground game has been excellent as well. Ronnie Hillman has averaged 7.5 yards per carry, and the team as a whole continues to rip off run after run behind this new zone blocking scheme installed by Rick Dennison.

Drives though, might end up once again being rather slow. You don't think of Manning as a quarterback eating eight minutes off of the clock on a touchdown drive, but as we have come to find out here in the preseason, that might be the case a lot this year for the Broncos. Don't be stunned if, even on scoring drives, there are tons of minutes run off the clock, a good sign for the under for live bettors.

WHEN SAN FRANCISCO HAS THE BALL

We've used this term before, and we're going to use it again because it's a perfect way to describe this San Francisco offense: Fifty Shades of Vanilla.

There's just nothing innovative going on right now in this offense. Plays which go for more than 10 yards are happening just once or twice a game, and the end result is just 73.5 passing yards and 202.0 total yards per game.

In fact, it's probably a miracle that the Niners have put a total of 33 points on the board in two games thus far in the preseason. Live bettors know that though, and they have to expect to see much of the same in what could become an under game every step of the way.

TREND TO TRACK

The only issue that we have live betting this under time and time again though, is the fact that Kubiak has consistently been good for over bettors in his career in exhibition games. With the Houston Texans, Kubiak went 21-9-2 towards the over in his coaching tenure. He's only 1-1 here with Denver so far, but the third week of the preseason has always brought out the big point totals for his teams.
