You can go back and look at the history of the New York Giants and the Dallas Cowboys all you want.
The results in these games always come back to whether Eli Manning or Tony Romo has the better game, and this is a great tell for live bettors in this one.
WHEN THE DALLAS COWBOYS HAVE THE BALL
The big thing that Dallas has going for it is its insane matchup advantage up front. The Giants' defensive line really might be the worst in the NFL without Jason Pierre-Paul, and that Cowboys' offensive line is still great.
Whether Dallas commits to the run again this year is going to be crucial. No, we don't expect to see the combination of Lance Dunbar, Darren McFadden and Joseph Randle equaling anywhere near DeMarco Murray from last season, but if the Cowboys don't make a true effort to keep the ball on the ground 30 times in this one, they could get themselves into trouble.
Of course, the great equalizer when the Cowboys are stuck passing it is Dez Bryant, who abused New York's corners last season, particularly in that Sunday Night Football game at the end of the year in the Meadowlands in which he had two second half touchdowns on plays which he looked blanketed.
The great lesson for live bettors while Dallas has it though, is still going to be that running game. If the Giants are forcing the Cowboys to throw it a ton, they at least have a shot. Romo might beat them anyway thanks to Bryant, but New York certainly will be in this game if he has to throw the ball 35-40 times.
WHEN THE NEW YORK GIANTS HAVE THE BALL
The injuries that will play a role in this game are all on this side of the ball. The Giants are going to be missing Victor Cruz in all likelihood, which leaves Rueben Randle to step into the starting lineup alongside Odell Beckham Jr. Dallas is playing without the suspended Rolando McClain and Greg Hardy, while Brandon Carr very well could be out of this game with a hand problem.
The Giants have quietly put up at least 350 yards of offense in four straight games against the Cowboys, but they haven't won any of those games, and they're just 1-3 ATS. Manning has thrown at least two touchdown passes in all four of those games, and though he does have a marginal four picks in four tries, he threw three of those four in one game back in September of 2013.
Still, it's about clutch moments in games. Manning just hasn't had a history of late of doing the job when the chips are all in the center of the table. In that game in which he threw three interceptions against Dallas, he threw a pick six with under two minutes to play with his team down 30-24. Two early fourth quarter drives in the game here in Dallas last season ended without any points, and that took a 21-14 deficit and made it 28-14 with less than half of the final stanza to go. The last game last season, Manning coughed up a 21-10 lead halfway through the third.
Even if New York does take the lead in this one, know that no lead is safe with the way that Dallas plays on both sides of the ball, especially with the always turnover prone Manning leading the way for Big Blue.
TREND TO TRACK
Not only has Dallas won four straight games in this series, but five straight have gone past the total as well. The winning team has tallied at least 29 points in four of the five games, and the losing team has reached at least 21 in all five.
That's why these games have been so darn close, too. Live bettors shouldn't fall into the trap of betting on a team up by 10 laying double digits in-game. Four of the last five have been decided by five points or fewer with these two teams on the field together.
