Fantasy Football Betting Online: There are plenty of star running backs who will be grabbed in the first round of fantasy drafts throughout the next month. They are established stars and have clear paths to playing time and a large amount of carries. They will be important cogs in fantasy football lineups, but so too will be the deep running back sleepers. Injuries and bye weeks are going to pop up during the season, so a deep bench is imperative. Diagnosing the best second- and third-tier running backs will be a boon to owners in fantasy football gambling.
Patriots running back Dion Lewis is one of the more intriguing sleeper running backs. He isn’t the type of player who will get 20 carries per game, but he is valuable in other ways. Lewis makes the most of his carries with a healthy yards per carry average and is also very dangerous in the passing game. He put together an impressive season in 2015 but tore his ACL midway through the year. Lewis is back practicing, and if the team returns him to last year’s role, he could be a nice RB2 or flex option.
Another intriguing running back is new Dolphins ball-carrier Arian Foster. He starred for the Texans for years but was allowed to walk after the season as he was returning from a torn Achilles suffered early in the year. Foster’s yards-per-carry dipped in 2015 but he was still a threat in the passing game. For those fantasy owners who believe he has something left in the tank, it could be a solid late-round investment.
Chargers running back Melvin Gordon is another interesting player. He was a first-round pick a season ago but struggled badly as a rookie. He had knee surgery in the offseason but is back practicing. San Diego will give him every opportunity to become a workhorse running back, but Gordon did not show much at all a year ago.
Lions running back Ameer Abdullah was a second-round draft choice in 2015. He was electric in the preseason but was stuck in a timeshare during the regular season and never established himself as the guy who should get the most carries. Abdullah had fumbling issues a season ago, and if those return he could really be in the doghouse. However, the talent is there for him to claim the starting gig, which could lead to solid fantasy outings.
Rashad Jennings could be a nice bye-week flex option. The Giants went with four different running backs for much of the first half of the season, but Jennings claimed the lead back role as the regular season came to a close. The team has an explosive passing offense, so even if Jennings isn’t great, he can rack up some points by being the go-to player in the red zone.
These are some of the top deep sleeper running backs in fantasy football drafts. While some of them may not pay out, a couple should, and it’s therefore worth the risk picking them up in fantasy football gambling.
