Fantasy football Betting Online: In fantasy football drafts, it’s imperative to hit on the first few picks so a few stars can be penciled into the lineup every week. Owners don’t have to worry about the production of those players since they are so steady. However, it’s just as important to identify potential sleeper picks to add in the late rounds. There are going to be injuries throughout the season, and having productive players to step in is huge in fantasy football gambling.
One of the top sleepers heading into 2016 is Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota. He had an excellent college career at Oregon and was the No. 2 overall pick in the 2016. He started from Day One in Tennessee and had some nice moments, but dealt with injuries and bouts of ineffectiveness. However, the Titans have beefed up their offense in hopes of giving Mariota more help. While he likely won’t be a top-tier quarterback, he could be a valuable backup or a good option if injuries hit a team’s starting quarterback. While he didn’t run a lot as a rookie, Mariota has the athleticism to beat teams with his arm and his legs.
Another intriguing option is Giants rookie wide receiver Sterling Shepard. Odell Beckham, Jr. is one of the top-ranked players in fantasy and should put up big numbers, but Shepard will aim to become the second receiving option for New York. While Victor Cruz is aiming to return from a series of injuries, he may never be the player he used to be, and Shepard could settle into the No. 2 receiver role. If so, all the attention will be on Beckham and he could have a nice season.
The Colts will roll with Frank Gore as their starting running back again, but he slowed down last season and could be coming up on the end of his career. Josh Ferguson is an undrafted free agent so he could be buried on the depth chart, but this is a worthy flier very late in the draft. If he can start siphoning Gore’s carries, Ferguson could all of a sudden be worthy of a flex spot later in the season.
Arian Foster used to be one of the best running backs in the NFL but is coming off a torn Achilles. The Texans let him go and he landed with the Dolphins. While durability is a concern, Foster is still capable of being a solid running back when healthy. Jay Ajayi is the nominal starter in Miami but has knee issues, and Foster could end up with a sizable role.
DeVante Parker is a receiving threat on the Dolphins who is also a sleeper. He came on strong at the end of the 2015 season and could see a healthy number of targets as new coach Adam Gase looks to put together a strong passing game. Parker has the physical tools and could be in line for a breakout season.
Seahawks wide receiver Tyler Lockett really turned it on at the end of his rookie year, giving Russell Wilson a reliable option alongside Doug Baldwin. Lockett’s role could continue to expand in 2016, and he has the added value of a return man for leagues that reward owners in that category.
Coby Fleener isn’t coming from a poor situation as he spent the beginning of his career catching passes from Andrew Luck in Indianapolis, but now gets to team with Drew Brees. The Saints’ star quarterback helped turn Jimmy Graham into a potent weapon and even made journeyman Ben Watson a solid player last season. Fleener could step in and put up big numbers in 2016.
These are just a few of the potential fantasy football sleepers heading into 2016. It’s key to keep track of the depth charts around the league, especially at running back, as identifying a player who will get solid touches but is not hyped can turn out really well. As always, sleepers will play a big role in determining league champions in fantasy football gambling.
