There have already been some major injuries suffered here in the regular season, but the two worst injuries were both suffered by the Dallas Cowboys. Life without Dez Bryant started last week. Life without Tony Romo begins this week. All of that makes this game against the Atlanta Falcons the perfect game for live bettors to take advantage of.
WHEN THE ATLANTA FALCONS HAVE THE BALL
An injury lost in the mix here is the one to Tevin Coleman. The rookie hasn't been fantastic this year, but he's better than Devonta Freeman. With Coleman on the shelf in this game, the Falcons are almost certainly going to be asking Matt Ryan to throw the ball more.
The only issue that we see with this is that the offense has been almost entirely one man. Julio Jones is tearing things up, accounting for 22 catches and 276 yards. However, no one else on the team has more than eight catches or even 100 yards. Roddy White was nowhere to be found in last week's win against the Giants, and Leonard Hankerson doesn't do it for us for a second or third wide receiver.
The big factor here for the Falcons is their offensive line. They haven't been tested tremendously this year, but Dallas is going to bring the heat. Last week after Romo got hurt, Rod Marinelli really ratcheted up the pressure on the Philadelphia offensive line by sending a ton of blitzes. Can Ryan get away from the heat? That's going to be a big question for live bettors to have answered in this one.
WHEN THE DALLAS COWBOYS HAVE THE BALL
But here's the really interesting subplot for live bettors to follow. How is Brandon Weeden going to play? Sure, he went 7-for-7 in relief of Romo last week in the City of Brotherly Love, but this is a far different situation. The Falcons are going to have the full week to study up on him, and he won't have the adrenaline of coming off of the bench either.
Without Bryant, these wide receivers are literally awful. Devin Street and Terrence Williams wouldn't be starters on most teams in the NFL, and that shouldn't be an exception for the Cowboys. Keep in mind too, that Jason Witten is battling a couple bum ankles and a hamstring issue as well, even though by all accounts, he should be ready to play.
The Falcons might have a pair of wins, but they won't have a pair of great defensive results. Yes, this defense came up big in the fourth quarter, but for the most part, the games against the Giants and the Eagles were nothing special with a combined 44 points allowed. The pass rush has been better under Dan Quinn for the Falcons, but this is the best offensive line in football they are lining up against in this one, which could result in problems for this unit.
Whatever we see out of Dallas early on is probably what we are going to see the rest of the way in this one, so live bettors should have a good indication of how this game is going to go early on based on the way the team hits the ground.
TREND TO TRACK
For as well as the Cowboys have played of late, they still have a big problem at the moment here at AT&T Stadium. They're 1-5 ATS in their last six games in this building, and that's only a part of the reason why Atlanta has opened up as the favorite. Live bettors should definitely keep these road woes in mind, especially after the Giants should've won here in Arlington in Week 1.
