Green Bay Packers hope to exorcize demons against Seattle Seahawks on Sunday Night Football

The Green Bay Packers still have to be having nightmares about the way they lost the NFC Championship Game. Perhaps history would have been much different had the Seattle Seahawks not come all the way back from down 16-0 and 19-7 to beat the Pack. Now, Green Bay has a chance early in 2015 to get some vengeance for that rainy January day when it gets the Seahawks at Lambeau Field.

WHEN THE GREEN BAY PACKERS HAVE THE BALL

Was the Green Bay offense at its best last week against the Bears? Of course not. However, James Jones looks like the real deal as a replacement for Jordy Nelson, and Randall Cobb looked just fine on the outside in spite of the fact that he had some injury woes coming into the year. Eddie Lacy wasn't quite as explosive looking as we remember him, but we know that he has better games in him.

The question that we have though, is what the Seattle defense is going to look like. This was supposed to be a hyper-aggressive defense which forces a ton of turnovers, but last week, Nick Foles was awesome against this unit in his first game with the Rams.

Of course, not having Kam Chancellor is probably the big loss. Chancellor is still holding out in search of a new contract, and he won't be on the field this week either.

Chancellor was big against the Packers in the NFC Championship Game, and with him not out there in this game, Aaron Rodgers could tear this unit apart.

If the Seahawks don't look aggressive in this game defensively, live bettors should know that Green Bay is going to pick them apart as St. Louis did.

WHEN THE SEATTLE SEAHAWKS HAVE THE BALL

We know what the Seahawks are ultimately going to do. They're going to put the ball in the hands of Marshawn Lynch, and they're going to let Russell Wilson run this offense as fluidly as possible. There won't be a lot of risks in the offense, but there doesn't necessarily have to be.

Remember that this offense put up 343 yards, a healthy number by its own standards against the Rams. If that turns out to be the case again, there's going to be a good chance to win this game.

The key though, is going to be staying out of third downs and giving Wilson manageable situations. He only averaged 6.1 yards per pass attempt, but he went 32-of-41 against St. Louis. That'll be good enough to keep the chains moving and keep that Green Bay offense all of the field, which is going to be the key for live bettors in this one.

TREND TO TRACK

This game is all about the over if you want to look at the historical trends. Not only is the over 5-1-1 in the last seven games played in this series, but it is also 8-1 in Green Bay's last nine games. Of course, the Seahawks played in the highest scoring game in Week 1, and we know that their defense is going to be a little more vulnerable than usual in this one.

This is a big spot for live bettors for sure on Sunday Night Football. The over is going to end up being a very public play, and the number has already come up from 48 to 49 as of Thursday night. That could be setup well for an antagonistic play in live betting for bettors who have the fortitude to play against Rodgers and that Green Bay offense.
