Live bettors shouldn't dare fade Minnesota against Dallas on Saturday

Would you believe that there is only one active coach in the NFL who has never lost a game for his team in a preseason encounter who has been around more than just this year? That man will be on display and should once again be great for live betting purposes when the Minnesota Vikings collide with the Dallas Cowboys.

QUARTERBACK ROTATION

Teddy Bridgewater has quietly been playing better and better as the weeks have gone by in this preseason. Last week against Oakland, he went 10-for-14 for 89 yards and a touchdown on the team's third drive of the game before having a seat for the rest of the day.

As we have seen Bridgewater play more, Mike Kafka and Taylor Heinicke have been seen less. Is this the game where Bridgewater plays a full half and Kafka and Heinicke don't even get on the field? There's a distinct possibility of that happening. If that's the case, live bettors should have all the confidence in the world in Bridgewater and Shaun Hill.

Dallas hasn't let Tony Romo do much thus far in the preseason, and we can't imagine that's going to change much in this one. Even if he does play an entire half or much of a half, he won't throw the ball all that many times in all likelihood.

Even Brandon Weeden hasn't played a ton either, and we would guess that this turns into a scab game for all intents and purposes for Big D, certainly by the start of the third quarter, if not sooner.

WHEN DALLAS HAS THE BALL

You're going to see a lot of running, which will keep the clock moving, lending itself to an under play in live betting. The Cowboys really need to get their running back battle sorted out now that all of Joseph Randle, Darren McFadden and Lance Dunbar are all healthy.

Deep passes? Don't expect to see a lot of them, if any of them. Most of what the Dallas offense has accomplished in terms of big plays have come from catches and runs, not just straight darts down the field, especially with Romo or Weeden throwing it. Beyond those two, we have no confidence the Cowboys have any shot of scoring even remotely religiously, a sure sign that live bettors should be fading away.

WHEN MINNESOTA HAS THE BALL

The Vikings haven't had to do a ton of fancy things either. They're going to run the ball right up the gut quite a bit, and the throws which Bridgewater is going to be tasked with aren't largely going to be the variety which can get Minnesota into trouble.

The Vikes too, have run a number of drives which have taken at least five or six minute off of the clock, the types of drives which aren't bad for under bettors even if they do end in scores for the amount of time taken off the clock.

TREND TO TRACK

At what point are the oddsmakers just going to blindly make the Vikings heavy favorites in every single one of their playoff games? Mike Zimmer has been bizarrely good for bettors in Minnesota's preseason games in his brief head coaching career, going 7-0 SU and 6-1 ATS in his seven games.

Yes, perhaps the 0-2 Cowboys are going to be a little motivated to get off to mark, especially playing here at home in a game in which the fans are going to be expecting to see a dominant performance against what is supposed to be an inferior team. However, until we see Zimmer lose a preseason game or have his team get badly outplayed, we can't do anything but continue to bet on him in live betting.
