Mad scientist Chip Kelly debuts experimental Philadelphia Eagles against Indianapolis Colts in NFLX Week 1

2015-Colts-at-Eagles-Betting-Lines

Twelve of the projected 22 starters for the Philadelphia Eagles coming into the new year weren't around last year at this time in the City of Brotherly Love. That makes doing anything but live betting on or against this team certifiably insane against the Indianapolis Colts.

QUARTERBACK ROTATION

If anyone truly knows what's in the mind of Chip Kelly, one of the few men who has five quarterbacks on his roster at the bottom, please let us know. We know that Sam Bradford and his newly blessed knees should be getting the start. What happens from there is anyone's guess.

By the way, did we mention that Tim Tebow is on this team? We'll talk more about him in a second.

A much more predictable quarterback rotation exists in Indianapolis. Andrew Luck will take some snaps. Matt Hasselbeck will probably finish out the first half. And then it gets interesting. Live bettors won't know what to do with rookie Bryan Bennett, but if he has the same lack of success that Chandler Harnish did as Indy's third quarterback these last few years, don't count on a lot of points for the men in white and blue.

WHEN PHILADELPHIA HAS THE BALL

Only the almighty Chip Kelly knows what he is going to see here. What we see though, are a lot of problems for live bettors. Riley Cooper is the top receiver on this team with any experience.

Here's the bottom line: DeMarco Murray is a new running back. Andrew Gardner and Allen Barbre are basically both new guards – certainly both new as starters. Nelson Agholor is a rookie trying to become a legitimate impact player immediately.

None of that sounds good, especially later on in the game after both Bradford and Mark Sanchez have taken seats.

Because, oh by the way, it's Tebow Time again.

You just know that Kelly is going to do what he can to make Tebow work. Do we see it happening? Of course not. Our logic? If Bill Belichick can't find a home for a guy like Tebow, how can anyone else?

We're not supremely confident when we say this, but we'd bet the under when the Eagles have the ball after Bradford and Sanchez sit down.

WHEN INDIANAPOLIS HAS THE BALL

Expect to see a lot of running the football and a vanilla offense out of the Colts after Luck is finished for the evening.

Chuck Pagano really needs to figure out what he has here in these younger players. Phillip Dorsett is the leading rookie on the team, but there are four rookie receivers and three rookie running backs all trying to make this roster.

It's going to be incredibly important to decide who else will be running the ball when the games count aside from Frank Gore, so guys like Boom Herron, Vick Ballard and Zurlon Tipton could see extended minutes in the first preseason game.

TREND TO TRACK

Don't be stunned at this, but Kelly's Eagles are 7-1 for over bettors in eight preseason games in his career. They have averaged 51.6 points per game in that span, and outside of one outlier of a game with 23 points, every preseason game the Eagles have played under the former University of Oregon boss has featured at least 44 points.

The skeptic could ask the question as to whether that can truly keep up or not, but until we see some legitimately concrete evidence to support an under play, we know that live bettors are taking their bankrolls into their hands by gambling on drives not ending in touchdowns.
