Last season when the Seattle Seahawks and Denver Broncos met, there was a tiny bit of revenge in the air for the Broncos after getting blown away in the Super Bowl. This year, there is less animosity, and that could give live bettors a chance to make some money on the game.
QUARTERBACK ROTATION
Last season, Peyton Manning actually played two drives against the Seattle defense in the opening game of the preseason, but we don't see that happening again. New coach Gary Kubiak is conservative in his ways, and we doubt we'll see more than a couple short throws from Manning in this one.
Instead, Brock Osweiler figures to play at least a quarter, if not a full half of football. When Kubiak feels like he has seen enough of his quarterback of the future, he'll let one of Zac Dysert or Trevor Siemian mop up the game.
Seattle will probably be conservative with its quarterbacks as well. We expect to see Russell Wilson come out throwing, but he won't be in there long. Tarvaris Jackson will get plenty of reps, but know that there's a massive drop between he and third-stringer R.J. Archer.
WHEN SEATTLE HAS THE BALL
It'll be interesting to see how Jimmy Graham works into this first-team offense in the short time he is going to be on the field.
The Seahawks remain deep along the offensive line, and they have a ton of running backs to hand the ball to. Rod Smith and Thomas Rawls are probably fighting for one roster spot as the fourth back on this team.
WHEN DENVER HAS THE BALL
The real interesting live betting trend comes here when Denver is on offense. There's a heck of a lot changing here for the Broncos.
Kubiak is going to want his hands on the playbook and probably won't give Manning quite as many liberties as he is used to having. The offense is going to look a lot more West Coast-ish than it did when Adam Gase was calling the offense as well.
Meanwhile, the Broncos are trying to figure out who their fourth receiver is going to be now that Wes Welker is gone, and they need to find replacements both at center for Manny Ramirez, who was traded to Detroit, and for Ryan Clady, who was lost for the season early in camp with a torn ACL.
That's a lot of moving parts that live bettors won't want to be a big part of, especially against this Seattle defense.
Do know though, that the only member of the Legion of Boom who will be on the field is Richard Sherman. Kam Chancellor is holding out for a new contract, while Earl Thomas is still getting over offseason surgery for his torn labrum.
TREND TO TRACK
Pete Carroll is a monster when it comes to the preseason, and live bettors should know full well about that. He is 10-2 SU and ATS in his last three seasons, and though both losses did come last preseason, the argument could be made that that was his best preseason, especially on the offensive side of the ball.
For his career, Carroll is 25-11-1 ATS, though it should be noted that that does include his time coaching both the Patriots and the Jets as well. That doesn't make it any less notable, though. Carroll is no joke, and he wants to win every game which he is coaching. It would take a brave man to bet against him in most any situation, particularly one in which there are so many new things going on in Denver.
