NFL ATS Picks - Baltimore Ravens at Green Bay Packers Game Preview

2017-NFL-Ravens-at-Packers-(CBS)-preview-Bet-Online

The Green Bay Packers needed this one. A win against the Chicago Bears may not carry a lot of weight this season, considering how much the Bears have struggled, but the Packers really needed to prove they could win without Aaron Rodgers to have any hope of saving the season.

The Packers will host the Baltimore Ravens in Week 11. The Ravens are coming off a bye after a loss to Tennessee two weeks ago. Can the Packers string two in a row together or is that asking for too much? It’s not the easiest matchup for the Green Bay offense, even at home.

This matchup in Week 11 of the regular season will take place on Sunday, November 19, 2017, at 1 p.m. ET at Lambeau Field.

Odds Analysis

The Ravens have had their issues this season as well but are slight favorites in this contest. More than 62 percent of the early action is backing Baltimore. The scoring total is low as both offenses are just scraping by at this point. The “over” is the more popular choice as a couple of turnovers could result in some easy points in this matchup.

Injury Report

Aaron Jones – The Packers’ leading rusher will miss 3-6 weeks with an MCL injury, many media outlets reported Monday. Jones was taken off the field on a cart in Sunday’s game against the Bears after suffering the knee injury while being tackled on the opening drive. He is averaging 5.3 yards a carry for the Packers this year and his absence will be even more noticeable with Rodgers out as well.

Ty Montgomery – The Packers’ running back stepped in nicely Sunday after Jones got hurt, running for 54 yards and a touchdown and also making two receptions for 14 yards, before he was also sidelined with an injury. Montgomery re-aggravated a rib injury and was forced to leave the game early. The severity of the injury is not yet known and it’s unclear whether he’ll miss time.

Bryan Bulaga – The Packers’ starting right tackle is out for the season with a torn ACL, the team confirmed last week. Bulaga suffered the injury in the Packers’ loss to the Lions on November 6th. The former first rounder has had his fair share of injuries since joining the league in 2010. Justin McCray is filling in for Bulaga in his absence.

Morgan Burnett – The Packers safety missed Sunday’s game against the Bears after suffering an injury to his groin against the Lions. Burnett missed two games earlier this season because of a hamstring issue and was in his first game back against Detroit when the groin injury occurred. He is a big part of the Packers defense and Green Bay will be eager to get him back.

Danny Woodhead – The Ravens veteran running back is eligible to return this week but it remains to be seen if he’s healthy enough to be removed from injured reserve. Woodhead has only played in one game with the Ravens. He signed a three-year deal with Baltimore last March but suffered a hamstring injury in Week 1 during his debut. He adds more depth and a great deal of versatility to the offense if he does come off IR this week with his ability to catch and run the ball.

Player to Watch

Brett Hundley – The Packers’ backup quarterback was tasked with the impossible this season when he was asked to fill in for Rodgers. It was evident that Hundley lacked both the skillset and the experience to even come close to matching the performance level of someone that elite.

But, even if he can’t be Rodgers, the Packers certainly need the version of Hundley they saw Sunday against the Bears. Hundley finished the game 18-of-25 for 212 yards passing with a touchdown and gave reason for hope again in Green Bay.

It wasn’t just the overall result – Hundley’s first win as the Packers starter – but the poise and precision the young player showed while leading his team to victory. With injuries to the the team’s top two ball carriers, it will be imperative he continues to improve.

Free ATS Pick

Hundley looked good last time out but is playing against an opportunistic Baltimore defense in this one. If the Ravens can force him into mistakes, they will have a great shot at coming away with the victory.

These teams are pretty similarly built now that Rodgers is on the sidelines, but the Ravens have a veteran quarterback in Joe Flacco and that should help. Take Baltimore to come away with this victory and cover the spread as well.

NFL Odds: Ravens 23, Packers 17
