NFL ATS Picks - Baltimore Ravens vs. Jacksonville Jaguars Game Preview

Ravens-vs.-Jaguars-(London)-bm

The Ravens have only allowed 10 total points the first two weeks and get another favorable matchup in this one. They are favored to win this game and improve to 3-0 on the season. The Jaguars started the season great with a dominant road win over the Texans but regressed last week with a blowout loss to the Titans.

Jacksonville is trying to ascend after years of losing seasons, and the next few games are critical to see what type of team they truly have.

This contest in Week 3 of the regular season will go down Sunday, September 24, 2017, at 9:30 a.m. ET at Wembley Stadium in London, England.

Odds Analysis

Baltimore is a bit smaller of a favorite than the betting public thought it should be, and thus 64 percent of the money is on the Ravens to cover. It’s a tricky spread, since if Jacksonville loses by a field goal it would still win the bet.

The scoring total is low as both defenses are strong, and the “under” is still the more popular choice. If either team gets a defensive touchdown, that could greatly affect the scoring total.

Injury Report

Marshal Yanda – The Ravens offensive guard fractured his ankle against the Browns on Sunday and has been ruled out for the rest of the season. Yanda, who is a six-time Pro Bowler, is a big loss for the Baltimore’s offensive line. Tony Bergstrom, who was traded to the Ravens two weeks ago, will be tasked with taking his place. Jacksonville has a strong defensive interior, led by Calais Campbell, and that could be a tough matchup for Bergstrom.

Jalen Ramsey -- The Jaguars’ burgeoning star at cornerback didn’t practice last week for Jacksonville but still played in the game against Tennessee. The Ravens don’t have a great passing attack, but they have a pair of established receivers in Jeremy Maclin and Mike Wallace. Ramsey should play as long as he doesn’t aggravate the ankle, but if he’s less than 100 percent that could be a concern. He’s usually a lockdown player in coverage.

Key Stat

34. That’s the Ravens’ positive point-differential this season, which is second-best in the NFL behind only the Oakland Raiders. Baltimore is 2-0 on the young season after shutting out the Bengals, 20-0, in their opener, and then knocking off the Browns 24-10 last time out.

The defense has been dominant, with stars like Terrell Suggs and Eric Weddle playing well. The Ravens are hoping to challenge the Steelers for supremacy in the AFC North, and if they keep piling up the early wins they will be in good shape.

Point-differential is often a good indicator of a team’s strength, and while it’s too early to deduce anything about Baltimore quite yet, if they continually win by double digits as the foes get tougher, they will definitely be a playoff contender.

Free ATS Pick

The Jaguars have a good defense and this one could be a slugfest. Going to another continent for a game isn’t easy and both teams may be sluggish. The Ravens are slightly more talented and have the better quarterback in Joe Flacco, and they should eke out a victory. However, it will likely come on a late field goal, which would allow the Jaguars to cover the spread.

The “under” is the right call on the scoring total as both teams are going to have trouble finding the end zone in this matchup.

NFL Odds: Ravens 20, Jaguars 17
