NFL ATS Picks - Buffalo Bills at New York Jets Game Preview

Bills-at-Jets-(NFL-Network)

The Jets have been much more competitive than people thought they would be in 2017 and certainly have the capacity to win this game. However, the Bills will be the road favorites as they have found a nice groove heading into this one.

The Bills have won two straight games to move to 5-2 and have the third-best point-differential in the conference so they are looking like a legitimate team midway through the season. The Jets are a respectable 3-5 heading into this one.

Odds Analysis

The Bills are slight road favorites. The half-point could be important as a three-point win by Buffalo in this one would still result in a cover for the Jets. In the earlygoing the money is coming in evenly on both Buffalo and New York.

The scoring total is low since neither team has a high-flying offense. The “under” is the more popular choice by bettors as about 66 percent of the money has headed that way after the line opened.

Injury Report

Buster Skrine — The Jets cornerback missed Sunday’s loss to the Falcons with a concussion. Teams are cautious with head injuries, and since this game is several days earlier than a normal week Skrine could have a tough time coming back to play the Bills. The good new for the Jets is that Buffalo is very run-oriented so the loss won’t be huge.

Muhammad WIlkerson -- The Jets’ standout defensive tackle is dealing with toe, shoulder and foot injuries but did play on Sunday against Atlanta. Wilkerson had five tackles and a sack against the Falcons and is a key piece for New York’s defense.

E.J. Gaines -- Buffalo was without one of its starting cornerbacks last time out against the Raiders. Gaines is dealing with a hamstring injury and could miss this one as well. The Jets, like the Bills, don’t have a great aerial attack so it’s not a huge deal if Gaines doesn’t play.

Player to Watch

LeSean McCoy -- After a slow start to the season, the Bills’ star running back has turned it up. He carried the ball 27 times for 151 yards and a touchdown to help Buffalo cruise to a win over the Raiders. Buffalo loves to establish the ground game, giving the ball to McCoy and quarterback Tyrod Taylor in option looks.

McCoy has averaged 95 rushing yards per game over the past four games and will aim to continue that success against New York. The Jets’ most talented position group is their defensive line, and it’s imperative they win that matchup.

If McCoy gets loose for some big chunk plays the Jets could be in trouble.

Free ATS Pick

Buffalo isn’t talked about as one of the better teams in the AFC but has played like it thus far. Both sides of the ball are doing their job, and while the Jets have been decent this year, they are at a big talent disadvantage.

The Bills are the easy choice to win this game as well as cover the spread despite playing on the road. There will be enough big plays on defense that points will hit the scoreboard. Take the “over” in addition to the Bills in this “Thursday Night Football” contest.

NFL Odds: Bills 27, Jets 17
