NFL ATS Picks - Cincinnati Bengals at Green Bay Packers Game Preview

Bengals-at-Packers-(CBS)-bm

Cincinnati is 0-2 on the season, as the offense has been a disaster in losses to the Ravens and Texans. It must find some semblance of a rhythm soon or else the Bengals’ chances of making the playoffs will be shot, and coach Marvin Lewis could be on the hot seat.

Green Bay had two tough games to open the season. It defeated the Seahawks at home but was blown out by the Falcons on the road last time out. The Packers should still be considered one of the better teams in the NFC but will aim to bounce back in this one.

Odds Analysis

It’s not surprising that Green Bay is a heavy home favorite, as the Bengals are going through some high-profile issues right now and now must play on the road. The vast majority of the early action is on Green Bay, with more than 80 percent of the money choosing the Packers to cover.

The scoring total has been deemed too high as most bettors don’t think the Cincinnati offense will be able to click in this one. The “under” is currently getting more than 68 percent of the action.

The Bengals are +324 on the moneyline, while the Packers are -411 favorites to take care of business in this one.

Injury Report

Tyler Eifert -- The Bengals’ tight end missed practice on Wednesday with a back injury. Keep an eye on his status, as he is one of the few established stars on an offense which is having trouble. If Eifert can’t go, it will severely restrict the offensive explosion for Cincinnati.

Mike Daniels -- The Packers’ star defensive lineman missed practice on Wednesday with a hip injury. He is a critical component on the defensive front. Cincinnati has had some trouble on its offensive line in the first two games, and Daniels would love to keep the pressure on them if he can play.

David Bakhtiari-- The Green Bay offensive tackle is battling a hamstring injury and his status is up in the air for Sunday. The Packers did get some good news as fellow offensive lineman Bryan Bulaga should be back for this contest.

Coaching Angle

The Bengals have a new offensive coordinator this week because Ken Zampese was canned after a second straight poor offensive performance. Former quarterbacks coach Bill Lazor was promoted to offensive coordinator and will be calling the plays this week.

It’s a big step up, and it could be tough for the Packers to know what he’s going to do. In the end, it will come down to the performance by the players. The Bengals have plenty of household names on offense but have mustered only nine total points in the first two weeks.

It remains to be seen if the coaching change helps improve the product.

Free ATS Pick

There is going to be a lot of overreaction after Cincinnati’s awful start, but this team is better than it looks. Winning on the road against Green Bay is too much to ask, but the spread is too high. Take the Bengals to keep this one close and cover the spread.

The “over” is the right call as the Bengals should finally put up some points in this one against an easier defense.

NFL Odds: Packers 27, Bengals 22
