NFL ATS Picks - Cincinnati Bengals at Pittsburgh Steelers Game Preview

2017-NFL-Bengals-at-Steelers-(CBS)-preview-Betting-Lines

The Cincinnati Bengals have a chance to get back into the AFC North race, as they visit the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday in Week 7 action on CBS. The Bengals started the season 0-3 but they have won two straight, and with a win on Sunday they could move within a game of the Pittsburgh Steelers who lead the division at 4-2. This has been an ugly series of late for the Bengals, as they have lost seven of the last eight against the Steelers, including four in a row.

Kickoff for this regular season Week 7 game is set for Sunday, October 22, 2017, at 4:25 p.m. ET at Heinz Field.

Odds Analysis

The early money on this game has come in on the Bengals, as the line is down to 5.5. It is not a huge surprise to see bettors on the Bengals, as Cincinnati has looked much better in their last two games, beating Cleveland and Buffalo. In fact, the Bengals could be on a three-game winning streak but they lost in overtime in Week 3 to Green Bay. The Steelers are coming off a win last week against Kansas City, but the Pittsburgh offense still looks out of synch, even though they did get Le’Veon Bell going last week. If you look simply at the trends, then it is hard to get past Pittsburgh’s success in this series, as they have won 7 of the last 8 straight up and they are 6-1-1 ATS.

Injury Report

Adam Jones – The Bengals are coming off their bye week but Jones is still dealing with a back injury. He was held out of practice early in the week and his status for Sunday’s game is questionable. He is a key player in the Cincinnati secondary, and his loss would be critical, especially since the Steelers have the best receiver in the game in Antonio Brown.

Ramon Foster – The Steelers have some injury concerns on their offensive line. Foster is dealing with a back injury and it is unclear whether or not he will be available on Sunday.

Marcus Gilbert – The other offensive line injury for Pittsburgh is the one to Gilbert, as he suffered a hamstring injury in the last game. If both Foster and Gilbert are out the Steelers could struggle to move the ball against a stout Cincinnati front.

Key Stat

It is hard to get past the success of the Steelers in this series against the Bengals. Pittsburgh has simply dominated Cincinnati in recent years. The Steelers won both meetings last season, 24-20 in Cincinnati and 24-16 in Pittsburgh. The Steelers have won seven of the last eight overall in the series. Five of the last six have gone under the total. The Steelers are also 7-3 SU and ATS in the last ten meetings at Heinz Field in the series and the games have been low scoring, with seven of the last eight going under the total.

Free ATS Pick

There is no question you could make a case for taking the Steelers simply because of their recent dominance in the series. The problem I have with taking Pittsburgh is that Roethlisberger hasn’t played well this season and the Steelers are not scoring a lot of points, as they rank just 21st in the NFL in points per game. I think the better choice is to take the game under. The Bengals have gone under in five of their last six road games, and both Cincinnati and Pittsburgh play low scoring games in the division. The Under is 22-8 in the Bengals last 30 vs. the AFC North and the Under is 21-8-1 in the Steelers last 30 in the division. And as noted earlier, seven of the last eight meetings in Pittsburgh have gone under. I will take this game on Sunday under the total.

NFL Odds: Steelers 17, Bengals 13
