The Jacksonville Jaguars have found a formula for success, leaning on their elite defense and run game to wear down opponents. They will aim to keep that going when they hit the road to face the Arizona Cardinals in Week 12. The Cardinals had playoff aspirations this year but have been hit hard by injuries and are not in playoff contention at 4-6.
Jacksonville is on the road but will be the favorites as it faces off against a third-string running back. The Cardinals play better at home but this is a pretty tough foe to try to pull the upset against.

Arizona Cardinals +5
Over/Under 38
Odds Analysis
The Jaguars are solid road favorites and are receiving more than 64 percent of the action to cover the spread. The scoring total is low as the Jaguars have a great defense while both offenses struggle. The “over” and the “under” both have gotten about 50 percent of the action so it seems like the total has been pegged accurately.
Injury Report
John Brown — The Cardinals’ wide receiver has turf toe and will miss this game. Brown has struggled with health issues this season and has caught just 19 passes for 271 yards and two touchdowns. Cardinals coach Bruce Arians has been unhappy with his wide receivers outside of Larry Fitzgerald, and rookie Chad Williams is expected to see an increased role in this one.
Corey Peters — The Cardinals’ defensive tackle missed the team’s loss on Sunday to the Texans with a high ankle sprain. He isn’t a big name but has been an important piece in the middle of the line. Peters is questionable for this game, and would be a key piece as the Cardinals hope to keep Jacksonville star rookie Leonard Fournette from having a spectacular showing.
Allen Hurns — The Jaguars’ wide receiver is battling a high ankle sprain and doesn’t seem likely to play in this one. Hurns has 36 catches for 446 yards and two touchdowns on the season. Marqise Lee will be the main target, but Jacksonville is thin at wide receiver as Allen Robinson is already done for the year.
Player To Watch
Gabbert -- The Cardinals’ quarterback is a former top-10 pick of the Jaguars but flamed out in Jacksonville. He didn’t impress in San Francisco, either, and latched on with Arizona as a third-stringer. Gabbert made the team after a solid preseason and now is starting because Carson Palmer landed on injured reserve with a broken forearm and Drew Stanton is out with a sprained knee.
Gabbert looked good in his first start last week, completing 22-of-34 passes for 257 yards with three touchdowns and a pair of interceptions. Gabbert is hoping to prove he can be an NFL starter despite a poor start to his career.
He has impressive tools, from a strong arm to mobility, but it hasn’t all come together for him. Stanton is getting healthier so Gabbert must continue to play well in order to hold on to the starting job.
Free ATS Pick
Gabbert is more talented than most third-string quarterbacks, but the Jaguars have the ability to make starters look poor. It will be a tough day for the Cardinals, as their offense does not have enough weapons to compete with Jacksonville.
Arizona’s defense has talent but has been inconsistent. It will need to force Blake Bortles into several turnovers in order to have a chance at the upset. That doesn’t seem likely to happen. Take Jacksonville to not only win this game but cover the spread. The “over” is the correct choice as the Cardinals could score a late touchdown to get the scoring total up.
NFL Odds: Jaguars 24, Cardinals 17
