NFL ATS Picks - Los Angeles Chargers at Jacksonville Jaguars Game Preview

Chargers-at-Jaguars-(CBS)

The Jacksonville Jaguars have put their losing past in the rearview mirror, and have begun to emerge as one of the more dangerous teams in the AFC. The Jaguars are hoping to pull ahead of the Tennessee Titans for AFC South supremacy, and a win this week over the Los Angeles Chargers would set them in that direction.

The Chargers started slowly but have played pretty well of late. They aren’t a pushover and have the superior quarterback, but Jacksonville’s defense is so elite that the Jaguars will definitely be favored in this contest.

This contest in Week 10 of the regular season will go down Sunday, November 12, 2017, at 1 p.m. ET at EverBank Field.

Odds Analysis

The Jaguars are slight favorites and a small majority of bettors are choosing them, as about 52 percent of the action is on Jacksonville to cover. The spread is a tough one, as a field goal margin of victory for Jacksonville would still result in a Chargers cover.

The scoring total is low because of the Jaguars’ ability to shut down the opponent. The “over” is the more popular choice, with nearly 68 percent of the money heading that way.

Injury Report

Dante Fowler— The Jaguars’ standout edge-rusher injured his elbow on Sunday against the Bengals and didn’t return to the game. He has 5.5 sacks on the season and a pair of forced fumbles, which has given the Jaguars a nice presence up front alongside Calais Campbell. Fowler’s presence is important so that Jacksonville’s defense can continue to dominate.

Cam Robinson -- The Jaguars’ offensive lineman injured his ankle during the game against Cincinnati. Robinson was nursing an ankle injury heading into it, and while there is no recent update on his status, it could be in doubt. Keep an eye on this one. He has been a nice addition.

A.J. Cann -- Another Jaguars lineman, Cann missed the team’s most recent game with a triceps injury. The team would love to have him back for this one but that is also up in the air.

Player to Watch

Leonard Fournette -- The Jaguars running back was deactivated by the team last time out for reportedly missing the team photo and other meetings. They were able to win without him, but clearly Fournette will be a big key in this matchup.

The team’s formula for success this season has been relying on its great defense and the ground game. The rookie has been a star from the beginning of the season with 130 carries for 596 yards and six touchdowns.

Fournette is a powerful runner and has kept quarterback Blake Bortles in advantageous situations to help minimize mistakes. The Chargers have an impressive pass-rush, so Jacksonville wants to run the ball well and avoid having to throw a lot.

Free ATS Pick

The Chargers lost their first four games but have won three of their past four to help turn the season around. Los Angeles was trying to get to .500 last time out, but it was a tough matchup and it lost to the Patriots. The Chargers are still playing pretty well but this is a tough matchup.

The Jaguars may only be 5-3 but they have the best point-differential in the AFC. As long as Bortles doesn’t turn the ball over a lot, the Jacksonville defense should help lead the way in another win. Take Jacksonville to not only win this game at home but to cover the spread.

The “under” is the choice as the San Diego offense is going to get shut down despite the presence of Philip Rivers, who is an accomplished, veteran quarterback. The Jaguars are quickly proving that they are a legitimate playoff contender.

NFL Odds: Jaguars 23, Chargers 14
