NFL ATS Picks - Miami Dolphins at Kansas City Chiefs Game Preview

2017-NFL-Dolphins-at-Chiefs-CBS-preview-Betting-Odds

The Kansas City Chiefs picked up a huge win last time out, knocking off the Los Angeles Chargers to regain control of the AFC West. They can clinch the division title with a win over the Miami Dolphins in Week 16 of the regular season.

Kansas City has experienced an up and down year but seems to be getting on track again down the stretch and is now a good bet to make the playoffs. The Chiefs will be strong favorites to take care of business in this matchup. The Dolphins pulled an unlikely upset of the Patriots a couple weeks ago but overall has not been that good this year and will need to outperform expectations to pull the upset.

Watch this regular season Week 16 matchup live on Sunday, December 24, 2017, at 1 p.m. ET at Arrowhead Stadium.

Odds Analysis

The Chiefs are double-digit home favorites in this matchup and the money is coming in pretty evenly on both sides, which means the spread seems pegged correctly. The scoring total has gone down a point early on in the week and the majority of the money is still on the “under.”

Injury Report

Mitch Morse — The Chiefs starting center has been placed on injured reserve following a foot injury he suffered in early December. Morse had to be taken off the field in a cart after sustaining the injury in the team’s loss to the Jets on December 3rd and has not returned to the field since. Zach Fulton has moved in to replace Morse as the starter and the team also elevated cornerback Keith Reaser to fill the active roster spot.

Jermon Bushrod —The Dolphins’ right guard is dealing with a foot injury which has sidelined him for four straight games. The veteran lineman suffered the injury against Tampa Bay on November 19th. Jesse Davis has been filling in for Bushrod on the right side.

Damien Williams —The Miami running back has missed the last three games with a shoulder injury and remains listed as questionable on the injury report ahead of Sunday’s game against the Chiefs. Williams dislocated his shoulder in the Dolphins’ loss to the Patriots on November 26.

Player to Watch

Kareem Hunt — The Chiefs’ rookie running back is having himself a season, and he looks to be peaking at the right time too. Hunt comes into this matchup against the Dolphins after back-to-back 100-plus yard games in his team’s wins over the Chargers and the Raiders the last two weeks.

The 22-year-old has carried the ball 242 times for 1,201 yards and six touchdowns this season. He ranks second the NFL for rushing yards this season behind the Steelers’ Le’Veon Bell, trailing by just 21 yards through Week 15.

Hunt helps provide the Chiefs a more balanced attack on offense, alongside Alex Smith. Kansas City is averaging 120.7 rushing yards per game this year, the ninth-best in the league.

Free ATS Pick

Kansas City went through a midseason lull but has since picked it up again. They can smell the postseason and control their own destiny, so the Chiefs have plenty of motivation. They also have the home field advantage and more talent so everything is pointing in the direction of a win for Kansas City.

The Dolphins have been inconsistent this season, and are hoping that is a positive in this case so that they can pull off an upset by playing better than believed.

It’s not going to happen. Take the Chiefs to run away with this victory while covering the spread in the process. The “under” is the correct call as Miami is going to have trouble putting up points consistently enough to remain competitive in this matchup.

NFL Odds: Chiefs 27, Dolphins 15
