NFL ATS Picks - New York Giants at Philadelphia Eagles Game Preview

Giants-at-Eagles-(FOX)

The addition of Brandon Marshall in the offseason was supposed to bring another explosive element to the passing game, but the Giants are struggling to move the ball. This road matchup with the Eagles is a tough one and the Giants figure to be underdogs. Philadelphia has looked solid in the earlygoing, starting with a road win over the Redskins before losing another one away from home against the Chiefs. The Eagles will be happy to be playing in front of their fans in this one.

Watch this regular season Week 3 matchup live on Sunday, September 24, 2017, at 1 p.m. ET at Lincoln Financial Field.

Odds Analysis

The Giants played on “Monday Night Football” so the spread hasn’t been released. However, based on their early-season struggles and the location of this game, the Eagles will be favored. The question remains how big the spread will be.

The scoring total should be low. Both defenses are good and the offenses could have trouble moving the ball consistently in this one.

Injury Report

Odell Beckham, Jr. -- The Giants’ star wideout is the most explosive player on either team, but he continues to battle a sprained ankle. Beckham played on Monday against the Lions but was not his usual self in the loss. He should be healthier for this game, but if he is not 100 percent it will make it tougher for New York to come away with the victory.

Rodney McLeod -- The Eagles’ safety hurt his hamstring in the first half in Week 2 and didn’t return. He is a key player in the team’s secondary. While the Giants’ passing game has been in trouble thus far, Beckham and Marshall are a pair of upper-tier receivers, and Philadelphia hopes to have McLeod available.

Key Stat

8. That’s the number of consecutive games the Giants have failed to score 20 points, dating back to last season. New York won 11 games in 2016 and seemed like it could be better this year behind a dominant defense and an improved offense, but it has yet to come to fruition.

The Giants split their last six games in 2016 despite the offensive inefficiency, but the defense hasn’t shut down opponents at the same rate this year. New York badly needs to get its offense going, but it’s fair to wonder if that will happen.

Quarterback Eli Manning has struggled badly recently and the offense isn’t going to get better unless he can pick it up.

Free ATS Pick

The Eagles finished under .500 last season but showed some potential. Carson Wentz is developing into a nice quarterback and the future seems to be bright for the team. It will be a big challenge for the offense in this one as the Giant’s defense is potent.

Philadelphia has a strong defense and that unit could dominate. The Eagles have the type of squad that has a chance to compete for a playoff berth. Games like this are essential against an opponent that is reeling. The NFC East is hard to peg this season and this one could help give it more clarity.

Look for the Giants’ woes to continue in this one as the Eagles should be able to take care of business at home. The “over” is the right call if the oddsmakers peg this one too low.

NFL Odds: Eagles 23, Giants 20
