The Kansas City Chiefs are riding high after an impressive season opening win over the defending champion New England Patriots. They will aim to keep up that momentum when they match up with the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 2 of the regular season.
It is the home opener for the Chiefs, who are looking to vault themselves into the conversation as a serious Super Bowl contender with more good play. The Eagles were impressive in their season-opening road win over the Redskins but will be the underdogs in this one.
Carson Wentz looked good against Washington but this Chiefs defense is tougher, especially in a hostile environment like this one. Kansas City is favored to move to 2-0 on the year with another win.
This matchup in Week 2 of the regular season will take place on Sunday, September 17, 2017, at 1 p.m. ET at Arrowhead Stadium.

Odds Analysis
After a high-profile win, the bettors are unsurprisingly jumping on the Chiefs to cover this spread, with 57 percent of the money headed that way. There is no scoring total as of yet so keep a close eye on where that settles in. The Chiefs are not known as a big-play offense but tore up the Patriots in the opener, so it will be interesting to see if that affects the total.
Injury Report
Eric Berry- The Chiefs’ star safety injured his Achilles in the win over the Patriots, which put a damper on such a huge upset. While the unit is still talented, Berry is one of the best players in the NFL and his absence will surely be felt in this game and the rest of 2017.
Ronald Darby - The Eagles also could be without a pivotal player in their secondary. Darby, a cornerback, was acquired from the Bills in training camp and is projected to have a big role, but suffered an ankle sprain in the team’s win over the Redskins. He seems likely to miss the game, which is one less player the Eagles can roll out on dynamic Kansas City receiver Tyreek Hill.
Player to Watch
Kareem Hunt -- The Chiefs were expected to be in a bad spot when starting running back Spencer Ware was lost for the season during training camp, but Hunt was unbelievable in his debut. After fumbling on his first carry against New England, Hunt turned it completely around. He finished with 17 carries for 148 yards and a touchdown while adding five catches for 98 yards and two more scores.
It was a storybook start to his career and the Eagles will surely be ready for what Hunt brings to the table after his breakout performance in the opener. Philadelphia has a stout defense which did not allow the Washington running game to get going last week.
Even though Alex Smith starred against the Patriots, the Eagles will be in good shape if they can force him into beating them through the air. If Hunt has another big day, Kansas City will be in the driver’s seat in this contest.
Free ATS Pick
The Chiefs’ defense is solid. We know that. But if the offense can truly take the next step and be explosive, this team all of a sudden will be tough to handle. While Hill and Hunt are impressive playmakers, keep in mind the upset of New England was only one game.
The Eagles should be able to make this one a grind-it-out affair. While the Chiefs are the choice to win in a close one, take Philadelphia to cover the spread. This game figures to be low-scoring because both defenses are very talented. Check out the scoring total when it is released.
NFL Odds: Chiefs 23, Eagles 20
