This game is a toss-up, as the Eagles may have a slight talent advantage while Washington gets to play this one in front of their home fans. Much will come down to quarterback play. Carson Wentz is aiming to build on a strong start to his career in 2017 for Philadelphia while Kirk Cousins looks for more success with the Redskins while targeting a new group of receivers.

Odds Analysis
It can’t get any more even than this, as the oddsmakers have tabbed this contest a pick ‘em. So far, the Eagles have been the more popular choice, with nearly 70 percent of the action choosing Philadelphia to win this matchup. The scoring total may be pegged too low since more than 60 percent of the early money has gone for the “over” in this game.
Injury Report
Su’a Cravens -- The Redskins safety isn’t hurt or suspended, but he is reportedly considering retirement. Cravens is only in his second season and is expected to be the team’s starting safety. Cravens looks like a key piece and was projected to have a big role this year, but now all of that is in flux. He was reportedly placed on the non-football exempt list. If that is true, he won’t play in the opener.
Phil Taylor and Trent Murphy – Washington has lost two key pieces of its defensive front before the season even began. Taylor, the team’s projected starting nose tackle, tore his quad and won’t play in 2017. Murphy, who had nine sacks last year, was already going to miss this game due to a suspension, but now won’t play at all this year because of a torn ACL. The Redskins’ defense is not expected to be great this season, and these two losses makes it tougher.
Nick Foles -- The Eagles’ backup quarterback is dealing with arm soreness, but did practice early this week. While he isn’t expected to play provided Wentz doesn’t get injured, it would be a big problem if Wentz did go down and Foles couldn’t play. It’s not something likely to affect Philadelphia, but it would be a nightmare scenario if the Eagles didn’t have a healthy quarterback to turn to in this one.
Player to Watch
Terrelle Pryor -- The Redskins watched Pierre Garcon and DeSean Jackson each leave in free agency, which took away a pair of Cousins’ top targets. While tight end Jordan Reed and slot receiver Jamison Crowder are still in the mix, the passing game won’t click on all cylinders unless the outside wide receivers produce.
Pryor will be the main pass-catcher out there after putting together an impressive season with the Browns. Pryor is a former quarterback who has found his home catching passes, and could have a nice season with the talented Cousins throwing him the ball.
Free ATS Pick
The Eagles are slightly better, especially considering the defensive issues the Redskins are starting at heading into the season. However, Cousins is the better quarterback at this point and the crowd should be amped up for the start of the year.
The Redskins probably aren’t going to be a great team in 2017, but their offense should be good. The passing game should come up big in helping lead Washington to a close win over the Eagles.
NFL Odds: Redskins 27, Eagles 24
