NFL ATS Picks - Pittsburgh Steelers at Baltimore Ravens Game Preview

Steelers-at-Ravens-(CBS)

Both teams are still 2-1 on the season as they prepare for a critical divisional clash in Week 4. The Ravens are at home, which should keep them competitive in this game, but the Steelers will be the favorites. Baltimore went through a long week traveling overseas and hopes it won’t be affected by all the travel in this game.

Kickoff for this regular season Week 4 game is set for Sunday, October 1, 2017, at 1 p.m. ET at M&T Bank Stadium.

Odds Analysis

The Steelers are slight road favorites and the bettors like this spread, as more than 85 percent of the early action is taking Pittsburgh to cover the spread. Baltimore’s defense was fantastic in its first two games but it was missing in action last time out against the Jaguars.

The scoring total is about middle of the road, but the bettors see a bounceback for the Ravens as the “under” is the far more popular play early on.

Injury Report

Brett Urban – The Ravens defensive end left Sunday’s game early in the second quarter after spraining his foot and did not return. Baltimore’s defensive line is already banged up with tackle Brandon Williams currently out, also with an injured foot, so losing another starter up front would be a big blow. There is no word yet on the seriousness of Urban’s injury.

Ramon Foster – The Steelers left guard injured his left hand in the Steelers loss to the Bears this weekend. He left the game in the first quarter and did not return. Pittsburgh perennially has a solid offensive line protecting Ben Roethlisberger, and Foster is a big part of that. Keep an ear out for the prognosis on his injury.

T.J. Watt – Pittsburgh’s standout rookie missed Week 3 with a groin injury. He had an uber-impressive season debut, collecting a pair of sacks and an interception against the Bears. If he can be that type of difference-maker consistently, it will be a big benefit to the Pittsburgh defense.

Player To Watch

Joe Flacco -- The Ravens are off to a 2-1 start, but the early wins were on the strength of their defense, not the quarterback. Flacco is an established veteran but has been poor through three games.

He started the year just 9-of-17 for 121 yards with a touchdown and an interception against the Bengals in a 20-0 win. He was better against the Browns but couldn’t do anything in Sunday’s 44-7 loss to the Jaguars. Flacco finished that one 8-of-18 for 28 yards with a pair of interceptions before getting benched when the game was out of hand.

The Steelers have an explosive offense led by Roethlisberger, wide receiver and Antonio Brown. They figure to put up some points, and it will incumbent on Flacco to have a good game in order to give his team a shot.

Free ATS Pick

If Baltimore’s defense is as good as it showed in the first two games, this should be a knock-down, drag-out affair. If not, it’s hard to see the Ravens hanging around against a team with superior personnel.

The location is key, as Baltimore should play well at home. There is enough talent on the team to cover this spread as long as Flacco can bounce back. The Steelers don’t have a great defense, so it should happen. This one should be close throughout, and while Pittsburgh will eke out the win, the choice is Baltimore to cover.

NFL Odds: Steelers 23, Ravens 21
