Odds Analysis

The Steelers are double-digit road favorites in this game, and the bettors are split. Half of the money is on each team to cover this spread. The scoring total is pretty standard for an NFL game.

The Steelers have some explosive players on offense and have a nice defense, while the Colts can sometimes have trouble scoring but seem to be getting more comfortable offensively. Interestingly, the “over” is the stronger choice by bettors as more than 85 percent of the action believes this will be higher scoring that what the oddsmakers have pinned it.

Injury Report

Vontae Davis -- The Colts cornerback missed the team’s win over the Texans on Sunday, although the team failed to disclose why. It is a weird situation and Davis’ status for this game is really murky. Davis is a sticky cover man when healthy and available, and would be a big piece in attempting to slow down Pittsburgh’s aerial attack. Keep a close eye on this situation.

Stephon Tuitt -- The Steelers’ standout defensive lineman has been bothered by a balky back that kept him out of the team’s last game. The bye week of rest may have helped and Pittsburgh would undoubtedly like to have him in the lineup.

Quincy Wilson -- The Colts’ rookie has been dealing with a knee injury that has kept him out for several weeks. He may be a contributor down the line but it seems unlikely he makes a big impact the rest of this season because of this injury and his inexperience.

Player To Watch

JuJu Smith-Schuster -- The Steelers’ rookie wide receiver saw his role increase in Week 7 because Martavis Bryant was benched for conduct detrimental to the team. Schuster took his opportunity and ran with it, catching seven passes for 193 yards and a touchdown.

Schuster is the youngest player in the NFL but is playing like a veteran. It was the second straight game in which he has a touchdown reception. Bryant is supposed to be back in the fold for this game, and Antonio Brown is still the go-to option through the air for Ben Roethlisberger as he is arguably the best wide receiver in the NFL.

But Smith-Schuster continues to get better in his first NFL season and should no doubt be a weapon in this matchup against a suspect Indianapolis secondary.

Free ATS Pick

The Steelers haven’t exploded offensively yet this season but the defense has done a nice job of leading the way. Both units should get their fair share of big plays in this one.

The Colts were built around Luck and his absence has highlighted all of their deficiencies. Brissett has done a decent job filling in at quarterback but Pittsburgh will likely get ahead and force him into some mistakes.

Take Pittsburgh to get rolling on offense in this one and cruise to the victory, covering the large spread. The “over” is the choice as Pittsburgh should do the heavy lifting in getting the number past the projected total.

NFL Odds: Steelers 30, Colts 17
