NFL ATS Picks - Pittsburgh Steelers at Kansas City Chiefs Game Preview

Steelers-at-Chiefs-(CBS)_preview-bm

While it has been a bumpy start for Pittsburgh, the oddsmakers are confident the Steelers can keep this one close. The Chiefs will remain to stay undefeated on the season with a win while Pittsburgh would restore a great deal of confidence if it can pull the upset. Despite the early-season struggles, don’t count out the Steelers in this one, as they have some of the most potent weapons in the league.

This matchup in Week 6 of the regular season will take place on Sunday, October 15, 2017, at 4:25 p.m. ET at Arrowhead Stadium.

Odds Analysis

The Chiefs are slighter favorites than conventional thinking would suggest and not surprisingly the majority of the action is on Kansas City to cover. The scoring total is a bit lower than one would expect and indeed the “over” has been the more popular choice.

There is no moneyline odds yet, but for those who believe in a Steelers rebound, that will be something looked at closely.

Injury Report

Travis Kelce — The Chiefs All-Pro tight end suffered a concussion on a hit to the head in Sunday’s win over the Texans. He left the game in the first half and although he did return a few plays later, he did not come back out in the second half. The 28-year-old is now in concussion protocol. Kelce had eight catches for 98 yards before his early exit. He is one the best tight ends in the league and the Chiefs’ top offensive weapon.

Chris Conley — The Kansas City wide receiver will miss the rest of the season with a ruptured Achilles. He suffered the injury on a non-contact play late in the Chiefs win Sunday as he fielded an onside kick. After making the catch, Conley fell immediately to the ground after and was later carted off the field. The 24-year-old had 11 catches for 175 yards in 2017, his third in the league.

Player To Watch

Ben Roethlisberger — The Steelers quarterback was so bad last time out that the former star was wondering aloud if he still had the necessary tools to compete at a high level in the NFL.

Roethlisberger threw for 312 yards against the Jaguars but tossed an ungodly five interceptions in the blowout loss, including two that were returned for touchdowns. Roethlisberger has one of the best wide receivers in the NFL at his disposal in Antonio Brown, while Martavis Bryant and running back Le’Veon Bell are also big weapons.

However, if he continues to turn the ball over the Steelers won’t live up to expectations.

Free ATS Pick

While there is a lot of doom and gloom surrounding Pittsburgh, the Steelers’ demise is exaggerated. They should bounce back in this matchup and pull out a victory on the road, knocking the Chiefs from the ranks of unbeaten.

Kansas City has taken some tough injury hits thus far and the defense isn’t what it was earlier in the year. While quarterback Alex Smith is playing at a high level, expect Pittsburgh to come in and win a wildly entertaining shootout. Roethlisberger had a bad day, but he is a long way from being put out to pasture.

If the passing game can get clicking the Steelers will announce themselves back among the best teams in the AFC. The Chiefs will fight hard but won’t have quite enough against a more dynamic foe.

NFL Odds: Steelers 34, Chiefs 31
