NFL ATS Picks - Seattle Seahawks at Dallas Cowboys Game Preview

Seahawks-at-Cowboys-(FOX)

The Seattle Seahawks and Dallas Cowboys will both be playing for their postseason lives when they face off in a Week 16 showdown. Seattle is coming off a humbling blowout loss and is in danger of missing the postseason for the first time in several years. Dallas also had plans to return to the playoffs this year but started slowly and need to win and get some help down the stretch.

This critical matchup will be held in Dallas, which is a big boost for the Cowboys. They may miss the playoffs no matter what happens down the stretch, but a win in this one wouldn’t eliminate themselves. The Seahawks have been a perennial contender for years but there are questions about whether that window of championship contention was closed. The 2017 season will be in the books unless they can manage to pull the upset.

This contest in Week 16 of the regular season will go down Sunday, December 24, 2017, at 4:25 p.m. ET at AT&T Stadium.

Dallas Cowboys -5.5

Odds Analysis

The Cowboys are strong favorites in this one. The teams have identical 8-6 records, but Dallas is getting healthier and trending up while the Seahawks are injury-riddled and coming off an embarrassing loss. The Cowboys are getting more than 64 percent of the action to cover this spread.

The scoring total is higher than most games but the betting public is considering it a bit too high as the “under” is the more popular choice.

The Cowboys are listed as -240 favorites on the moneyline, while the Seahawks are +199 underdogs.

Injury Report

Bobby Wagner — The Seahawks linebacker is dealing with a hamstring injury. He gutted it out last time out against the Rams but was clearly limited and didn’t play well. He left in the third quarter but is expected to play in this showdown. Wagner is an elite player when healthy but he could be limited once again.

Orlando Scandrick —The Cowboys’ cornerback has missed the past couple of games with a back injury. He is a solid player when healthy but his availability is in doubt for this one. Dallas could use Scandrick since the Seahawks do most of their damage through the air.

David Irving —The Cowboys’ defensive tackle is dealing with a concussion and is hoping to be ready for this one, but that is in flux. The Seahawks have a porous offensive line, which usually leads to multiple pressures and sacks. Irving would love to be a part of the group who regularly creates pressure in the backfield.

Player To Watch

Ezekiel Elliott — The Cowboys’ running back has returned to the team after a six-game suspension. He burst onto the scene last year as a rookie and didn’t have quite the same production before the suspension but is still one of the best running backs in the NFL. The Seahawks are banged up in their secondary and at linebacker, but if the defensive line can have a big game and limit Elliott, it could give the team the chance to pull the upset.

However, Elliott will no doubt be raring to go and seems likely to put up big numbers in this matchup.

Free ATS Pick

The Seahawks should bounce back in this one, but all the injuries on defense are going to take their toll. While the Cowboys should win this game, the matchup is going to be closer than the spread suggests.

Russell Wilson is still a star quarterback and that should be enough to allow Seattle to hang around. Take Dallas to win this game but the Seahawks to cover the spread. This Seattle defense is a shell of its former self and this one should be a shootout. Take the “over” to hit in this one,

NFL Odds: Cowboys 27, Seahawks 24
