NFL ATS Picks - Seattle Seahawks at Green Bay Packers Game Preview

2017-NFL-Seahawks-at-Packers-(FOX)-Betting-Online

Two of the best teams in the NFC will open up Week 1 with a bang when they face off. The Seattle Seahawks are traveling to play the Green Bay Packers. Both teams have won Super Bowls with their current quarterbacks at the helm and are on the short list to capture the title in 2017.

This game has huge star power on both sides and all eyes will be in Green Bay to see which team looks better. The home field advantage could be the difference because the talent level is pretty even. While this is only the first game of the year, the Packers and Seahawks both want a high seed for the playoffs, and winning this game could pay dividends in a few months.

This contest in Week 1 of the regular season will go down Sunday, September 10, 20167 at 4:05 p.m. ET at Lambeau Field.

Green Bay Packers -3

Odds Analysis

The Packers get the standard three points for the home field, but other than that this looks like an incredibly even matchup. The bettors thus far like the Packers, as 61 percent of the money is on them to cover.

The Seahawks have a great defense but the oddsmakers are forecasting a lot of points in this one. The bettors believe it’s even a bit low as 64 percent of the money is on the “over.”

Injury Report

George Fant - The Seahawks’ left tackle was lost for the year in the preseason because of a torn ACL. It was a big blow because Seattle’s offensive line is already the worst unit on the team. Seattle is stacked with talent nearly everywhere else, but if quarterback Russell Wilson isn’t protected, the offense could struggle.

Bryan Bulaga - The Packers’ right tackle injured his ankle during the preseason and seems questionable for this game. Aaron Rodgers is arguably the best quarterback in the NFL, and Seattle’s best chance at getting him off his game will be getting a good pass-rush. If Bulaga can’t play, that’s a big help for the Seahawks.

Matchup To Watch

Packers offense vs. Seahawks defense -- Rodgers is hoping to put up big numbers once again this season and win another title. His main targets are back in Jordy Nelson and Randall Cobb, but the Seahawks can match them behind a powerful secondary which features Richard Sherman, Earl Thomas and Kam Chancellor.

The Green Bay running game isn’t that good, and the Seahawks defensive line could be special. Michael Bennett and Cliff Avril return while Jets defensive end Sheldon Richardson was recently added to the fold.

The Seahawks have a chance to be the best defense in the NFL this year, but even great defenses can’t stop Rodgers when he is going well. The addition of tight end Martellus Bennett is an underrated move and will give Rodgers another target.

If Seattle can keep Rodgers from dominating, it should win this game, but it’s not an easy task.

Free ATS Pick

Wilson was bogged down by leg injuries throughout 2016, which helped limit the offense. He is healthy now, and the Seahawks hope to do better in the running game after adding Eddie Lacy in free agency.

The Seahawks are the more well-rounded team but the Packers have the trump card in Rogers. He should figure out a way to make enough big plays to help his team squeak out a victory. The call for this one is a “push” on a late game-winning field goal, so if the spread budges just a half-point one way or the other, jump in it.

The “under” is the right call as both defenses should play well in this matchup.

NFL Odds: Packers 23, Seahawks 20
