NFL ATS Picks - Washington Redskins at New Orleans Saints Game Preview

Redskins-at-Saints-(FOX)

The NFC South features the last two conference participants in the Super Bowl, but both the Atlanta Falcons and Carolina Panthers are currently looking up in the standings at their divisional brethren. It is the New Orleans Saints who currently sit atop the division at 7-2, and they will aim to keep it up in a home game hosting the Washington Redskins.

Washington has been floating around .500 all season and does have enough talented players to hang around in this one, but New Orleans has turned into one of the better teams in the NFC behind an offense that hasn’t lost a step and a defense that has surprisingly turned it on. If the Saints’ defense is legitimate, this team could make a run at the Super Bowl in the twilight of star quarterback Drew Brees’ career.

This contest in Week 11 of the regular season will go down Sunday, November 19, 2017, at 1 p.m. ET at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

Odds Analysis

New Orleans’ defense may be improved but the oddsmakers are still projecting plenty of points in this one. The bettors believe it too as the “over” has gotten the vast majority of the action in the earlygoing.

The Saints are more than a touchdown favorite, and that half point could be important if the contest ends up with a seven-point margin. New Orleans is still getting more than 55 percent of the action to cover this spread because of the way it has been playing of late.

Injury Report

DeAngelo Hall -- The Redskins’ safety tore his ACL last year and missed the first half of this season. He has been back for the past two games has added depth to the secondary, but left Sunday’s loss to the Vikings with a knee injury. Hall is a veteran with plenty of game-wrecking plays in his past, and he would be a nice piece to have against a dynamic New Orleans passing attack.

Rob Kelley -- Washington’s backup running back injured his knee and his ankle against Minnesota and reportedly left the stadium in a walking boot. Chris Thompson is the main running back but Kelley is a nice complement. He seems unlikely to play in this one.

Delvin Breaux -- The Saints cornerback suffered a setback in his recovery from a leg injury last week and will remain on injured reserve the rest of the season. He would have been a nice addition to the secondary, although the New Orleans defense has been fine without him.

Key Stat

Seven. That’s the number of wins in a row the Saints have reeled off since an 0-2 start. They began the year by losing back-to-back games to the Minnesota Vikings and the New England Patriots as it seemed like another year with Brees at the helm was going to end with no playoff appearance.

However, the Saints have picked it up since then and now sit with one of the best records in the NFL. New Orleans dominated Buffalo to the tune of 47-10 last time out as it scored six touchdowns on the ground.

The Saints have have given up an average of less than 11 points per game over their past three wins and if the defense continues to play like this, New Orleans can beat anybody. Marshon Lattimore has been a revelation at cornerback as a rookie and plenty of other players are stepping up.

Free ATS Pick

The Redskins have a solid quarterback in Kirk Cousins, but the defense was torched last time out by Case Keenum and will face a much more talented quarterback in this one in Drew Brees. The Saints have it rolling right now and should win this won rather easily.

Take New Orleans to not only win the game but to cover the lofty spread as well. The “under” is the call, but just barely.

NFL Odds: Saints 30, Redskins 20
