It was only two seasons ago that the Denver Broncos ended up with a Super Bowl championship, so the team and its fans believes a return to that type of flory is eminently possible in 2017. However, there are some legitimate issues facing Denver as it makes its trek.
The defense is dominant, but maybe not quite as good as that 2015 unit. The offense is the real concern, as quarterback play is a really big question mark. The Broncos have a lot of talent and can beat anyone on a given night, but the low ceiling on the offensive capability keeps them among the second tier of teams pushing for the title.
Denver is also in a really tough division, which could result in its record being worse than the actual talent level on the club. The top two seeds in each conference get a big advantage because they earn a first-round bye and at least one game of home field advantage. Denver will have to battle with the Kansas City Chiefs and Oakland Raiders for divisional supremacy as they aim to finish at or near the top of the AFC standings.

Key Factors For Winning the Super Bowl
Improve At Quarterback – Peyton Manning was no longer a top-flight quarterback in 2015 when the Broncos won the title, but he still managed the offense and did enough to keep the team in games while the defense went to work. Trevor Siemian doesn’t need to throw for 300 yards per game but he does need to move the offense efficiently and avoid turnovers. Siemian finished last season with 3,401 yards passing with 18 touchdowns and 10 interceptions in 14 games. He beat our former first-round pick Paxton Lynch for the starting job, but if he struggles at all during the season there could be a change. The Broncos have a lot of top-flight players everywhere on their roster, but a below average quarterback could torpedo their chances at another Super Bowl win.
Help Von Miller - The Broncos’ defense is so strong because they have had one of the best pass-rushes in the NFL the past few seasons. Miller leads the way as he is right alongside J.J. Watt and Khalil Mack as the top sack artists in the NFL. Miller has 73.5 career sacks in six seasons and should hit double digits again, but the team also needs other to step up. The interior pass rush isn’t as lethal as it used to be and DeMarcus Ware retired this offseason. A lot of focus will be on former first-round pick Shane Ray, who is currently sidelined with a wrist injury but will be a key player when he returns.
More No Fly Zone - The Broncos have arguably the top cornerback pairing in the NFL between Chris Harris and Aqib Talib. The pass rush helps them, but these two cover men are great at slowing down receivers. The Broncos’ offense may not score 28 points per game this season, so the margin for error on defense is small. However, between Miller, Harris, and Talib, the team has a dominant trio with which to build around. The Broncos have lost some pieces from that title-winning team in 2015, so their stars are all going to have to be great in 2017 in order to push for another championship.
