NFL GAMES OF THE WEEK

Cowboys at Vikings – Thursday, December 1, 8:25 p.m. ET (NBC/NFLN)

The defensive coordinator of the Cowboys when they signed an undrafted free agent quarterback named Tony Romo was a guy by the name of Mike Zimmer. Zimmer is now the head coach of the Vikings, and he has a defense that is young, fast and improving. On the other side of the ball, just imagine how much agony Jerry Jones will be in while he's watching Adrian Peterson running through his defense into open space.

Seeing these two teams pitted against each other harkens back to playoffs gone by. The Cowboys and Vikings have squared off in the postseason eight times overall, making this one of the most frequent matchups in league history. If the Cowboys fancy themselves a contender with a healthy Romo, they’re going to have to beat teams like this one on the road.

Panthers at Seahawks – Sunday, December 4, 8:30 p.m. ET (NBC)

Wrap up this incredible week of football with a mouthwatering matchup between the Panthers and Seahawks. Carolina and Seattle has quietly turned into a rivalry over the past few years. They play each other every year. The games are always close. Seattle knocked Carolina out of the playoffs two seasons ago, and last season, Carolina knocked Seattle out of the playoffs. And it's another rematch on Sunday Night Football.

These two have hooked up seven times since Pete Carroll took over the Seahawks in 2010, with last year's regular-season game being the best. While Carroll's bunch took the first five meetings, Ron Rivera prevailed twice last year en route to Super Bowl 50. Another postseason thriller saw Seattle come back from a 31-zip deficit to make it a close shave in Charlotte. The outcome in this series has been decided by one score five times since 2012. How could you not be enticed by this one?

Giants at Steelers – Sunday, December 4, 4:25 p.m. ET (FOX)

This game has “shootout" written all over it. Just by looking at the game information, you just know it will be a shootout. Eli Manning vs. Ben Roethlisberger. Two top quarterbacks taken in the 2004 NFL Draft. A pair of gun-slingers who toss the ball all over the yard with receivers who routinely make highlight reel grabs. Hello Odell Beckham Jr. and Antonio Brown.

The Giants made upgrading their defense a priority in the offseason, and why not after finishing near the bottom of every statistical category. The shoddy play on that side of the football cost Tom Coughlin his job, too. That won’t matter to the Steelers, who were one of the most explosive offensive teams last season while missing Big Ben and Le’Veon Bell for chunks of the year. Imagine what happens if they’re both around. First one to 40 wins.
