NFL GAMES OF THE WEEK

Cardinals at Panthers – Sunday, October 30, 4:25 p.m. ET (FOX)

Can Carson Palmer overcome his disastrous six-turnover performance in a 49-15 loss to Carolina in the NFC Championship game? OK, so that matchup was a complete dud in January. You know coach Bruce Arians will have his guys fired up to put that blowout loss firmly in the rearview. Palmer has spoken about moving on from his woeful outing – we’ll see what kind of resilience he has in this return to Charlotte.

Remember, Arizona played that game without Tyrann Mathieu, a legit Defensive Player of the Year candidate before he went down in mid-December. Then again, Carolina fans can point to the fact their team played the whole season sans No. 1 receiver Kelvin Benjamin. With Carolina finding a way to retain its valuable players from last year’s conference title run and the Cardinals upgrading on both sides of the ball, these are likely going to be the two favorites in the NFC heading into the 2016 season.

Seahawks at Saints – Sunday, October 30, 1 p.m. ET (FOX)

After three consecutive frustrating trips to Seattle, the Saints finally get the Seahawks to venture into their home dome. And the bonus is that it’s without their tormentor, Marshawn Lynch. The Seahawks represent a raw nerve for Sean Payton and the Saints, having knocked them out of the playoffs first in the 2010 season and again in 2013.

The visit from Seattle comes in the middle of a brutal six-game stretch for New Orleans that includes two games against Carolina, a trip to Kansas City and a home game against defending Super Bowl champ Denver. But putting the Seahawks hex to rest is job one for Payton and the Saints. And if Jimmy Graham can recover from his knee injury, we're sure he'd like to show Saints management what they're missing while they try to talk themselves into the Josh Hill era.

Patriots at Bills – Sunday, October 30, 1 p.m. ET (CBS)

It almost goes without saying that for Rex Ryan and his long-suffering Bills, the white whale they both have long pursued hails from Foxborough, Mass. Beating the Patriots is where the story starts and ends for Buffalo, which is still working on that mind-boggling 16-year playoff drought.

The Bills were 0-2 against Bill Belichick and Tom Brady last season, finishing 8-8 and in third place in the AFC East. This year, Week 4 brings the first test, with the Bills trying to win for only the second time ever at Gillette Stadium – and that 2014 Week 17 upset came when Brady was yanked early with the playoffs looming. If Brady’s suspension is in effect on Oct. 2, the focus will shift to the Week 8 rematch in Buffalo, with even more on the line in terms of the Bills’ quest to return to division relevancy.
