NFL Betting Online: The Minnesota Vikings have some very talented players returning from last year’s NFC North titlists. Quarterback Teddy Bridgewater will aim to make more progress in becoming a top-level signal-caller while running back Adrian Peterson remains to be the star on offense. The defense is young and talented, so there are ample reasons to believe Minnesota will once again be making a return trip to the postseason. Oddsmakers agree, as the Vikings are -200 favorites to qualify for the playoffs, while missing it will pay out at +160 in NFL odds.

Even though the Minnesota Vikings claimed the division a year ago, it’s the Green Bay Packers who are the favorites this year behind superstar quarterback Aaron Rodgers. If the Packers live up to that billing and capture the NFC North, it means the Vikings will need to qualify for the playoffs by securing one of the wild card spots. Since one of either the Arizona Cardinals or Seattle Seahawks figure to also be in the mix for a wild card, there is not a lot of room for error if another NFC team step up and surprises people.

The Vikings have a solid reason to believe they will return to the playoffs. The team is young and should continue to improve. Minnesota was middle of the pack offensively a year ago, but continued growth from Bridgewater could help that cause. However, star running back Adrian Peterson may be slowing down as he ages, which could be a concern. The Vikings addressed the offensive line and wide receiver positions in the draft and free agency in hopes of improving the unit.

The Vikings were a top-five defensive team and could duplicate that provided they stay healthy. Harrison Smith is one of the best safeties in football, while linebacker Anthony Barr and defensive end Everson Griffen are also key young pieces. Rookie middle linebacker Eric Kendricks led the team in tackles and added four sacks, and he is a player who may also become a key cog. Minnesota is coached by Mike Zimmer, a solid defensive mind, and he should help the group continue to improve.

The Vikings were heartbroken last season when they were on the verge of moving on to the NFC Divisional Round before a missed field goal in the waning seconds of regulation ended the dream. Despite that, expectations are high and Minnesota is favored to return to the playoffs once again in 2016. Minnesota would much prefer to win the division and set up a chance at claiming home field advantage in the first few rounds. The Packers will battle them, but it wouldn’t be a surprise to see both of them qualify for the playoffs like last year in NFL odds.
