Aaron Rodgers has won the NFL MVP twice previously and though he didn’t win the award last season, he was most deserving. Behind Rodgers the Green Bay Packers had a season-ending run for the ages and came within a game of reaching the Super Bowl, eventually losing to Atlanta in the NFC Championship game. When the Pack was 4-6 and all but out of the race, Rodgers said they could run the table. They did, got some help from Detroit, and won another NFC North title. With Rodgers at the helm the Packers are always a threat.

Key Factors For Winning the Super Bowl
Keep Rodgers Healthy – With their two-time MVP and future Hall of Famer behind center the Packers have won two-thirds of their regular season games, reached the playoffs in eight consecutive seasons and won five of the past six NFC North titles. There is no player more important to the team’s success than No. 12. Rodgers was at his best down the stretch last season, leading Green Bay to six straight wins to close the regular year, overtaking the Lions in the finale to win the division. During that run he completed nearly 70 percent of his passes with 15 touchdowns and no interceptions. The stretch continued into the playoffs where the Pack combined for 72 points in wins over the Giants and Cowboys. The run ended a win short of the Super Bowl, but the offense wasn’t the issue in Green Bay last year.
Defensive Help – The defense was no help last season and the Packers used their first three picks in the recent draft to upgrade that side of the football. Injuries played a major role in the Pack ranking next to last in pass defense. They were without Quinten Rollins and Damarious Randall for part of the year, and when the duo was on the field their play didn’t match season’s past. The Pack also got just one game from top corner Sam Shields before shutting him down due to a concussion. The Pack grabbed corner Kevin King with their first pick and safety Josh Jones next. They will compete for starting jobs and will also push Rollins and Randall to get better. And with the offense looking to be first rate again, a slight improvement could take the Pack to the next level.
Find A Ground Game – Handling the pressure of running the entire offense hasn’t fazed Rodgers, but if given the slightest bit of help in the ground game, the Packers have potentially the best unit in the NFL. Eddie Lacy and James Starks dealt with injuries and never contributed last season, leaving the job to converted wide receiver Ty Montgomery. He did a decent job rushing for a team-high 457 yards and 6.0 yards per pop with three touchdowns during his time in the backfield. But the Packers need to come up with a solution at the position. Is Montgomery the guy or will one of their three drafted running backs take a step a forward? The Packers just need the threat of a run game to keep defenses honest, and behind a solid offensive line, somebody should emerge to supply that.
