It isn't all that often the No. 1 pick in the NFL Draft is traded, but this year, not only was the pick dealt, but it was dealt a solid two weeks before the draft. The first major transaction the Los Angeles Rams made since their move from St. Louis was moving all the way up from No. 15 to the top selection in the Draft. But the real question? Will they draft Carson Wentz or Jared Goff with the top pick?

Goff is the logical selection. He's a local kid having played college ball at Cal under Sonny Dykes and was a three-year starter. Sure, the offense was a little bit gimmicky, but he threw for at least 3,500 yards in all three of his season, and in his last two, he combined to throw for 78 touchdowns.
Goff's completion percentage improved every year he was in college, and though he did toss 30 picks, he threw the ball 977 times in his career. He doesn't have the best wheels on the face of the earth, but he can get himself out of trouble when needed.
Wentz is the bigger gamble for sure. The North Dakota State product really hasn't played against the toughest competition in America, but obviously, the scouts think enough of him to make him one of the top picks in the draft whether the Rams take him or not.
There's a lot to like here about Wentz for sure. He's a big guy at 6-foot-5, and he's got the look of an NFL quarterback for sure. Unlike Goff, Wentz knows how to get himself out of trouble with his wheels.
Wentz only started in two of his four years, but he also knows the pressure of playing in huge games in the FCS playoffs. He finished last season with 17 TDs against just four picks, albeit on just 208 passing attempts.
Los Angeles obviously has a need for a quarterback. The team traded Sam Bradford to Philadelphia in the offseason last year, and the Nick Foles experiment failed miserably. Case Keenum took the reins of the team last year, and though he wasn't atrocious, there's no way that the team was going to let him start this year, at least not without the possibility of turning the ball over to a hot, new rookie.
The big question which comes next is where the man who isn't drafted by the Rams will end up. Sure, there's always a chance that the Browns draft a quarterback, but if they pass or trade down, it's anyone's guess as to who would want a QB from there. There are plenty of candidates ranging from San Diego and Dallas at picks No. 3 and 4, but neither one of those teams would be asking those pivots to start immediately. We're not suggesting that Wentz or Goff could fall all the way to the end of the first round, but it's entirely possible.
Let's also not forget that the Titans could have a big say in where these quarterbacks end up going. They're armed with a glut of picks now with six in the first three rounds and a future first rounder coming back from the Rams, and they could use that ammo to get back into the Top 10 once again. If they do that, that's certainly one more Top 10 spot in which Wentz or Goff won't get picked since Tennessee has hitched its wagon to Marcus Mariota for the long haul.
