Sometimes the postseason brings out the best in individuals fighting to keep their teams' seasons alive, while other times, it brings out the worst. Player props are generally shaded towards higher figures this time of year, but that doesn't mean there aren't some great player props to watch out for that you can take advantage of on Saturday and Sunday.
You can find NFL playoff prop odds at BookMaker.eu for Wild Card weekend.
Play DeAndre Hopkins Over in Receptions and Receiving Yards
The Chiefs have a fantastic secondary, one which held opposing quarterbacks to just a 74.0 quarterback rating this season. Marcus Peters is going to run away with Defensive Rookie of the Year honors with his eight picks, and if Justin Houston is really able to come back into the fold as is prognosticated, the pass rush is going to limit the amount of time Brian Hoyer has to throw the ball.
However, Hopkins is still a really safe play here even though his prop prices are going to be through the roof. Houston is going to want to use the run to setup the pass, but Bill O'Brien is no dummy. He knows what it's going to take to win this game, and that means getting the ball in the hands of No. 11. Hopkins had at least seven receptions in nine games this year, and in games with Hoyer at quarterback, he averaged well over 110 yards per game. Touchdowns might be tough, but yards and receptions should be easy for Nuk.
Play Ben Roethlisberger Under in Passing Yards
It's so risky to bet against Big Ben this time of year, especially if DeAngelo Williams is out with an ankle injury. However, the Steelers had problems moving the ball against the Cincinnati defense every step of the way in that 33-20 victory in Week 14 and could have some issues again in this one.
The Bengals have a stingy pass defense, and the key has been getting to the quarterback. Geno Atkins forces pressure right up the middle, and he'll surely provide early and often reminders that Maurkice Pouncey hasn't taken a single snap at center for the Steelers in the regular season.
That could have Big Ben getting the ball out of his hands quickly, taking away all those 50+ yard shots to Markus Wheaton and Martavis Bryant.
Play Russell Wilson Over in Rushing Yards
Wilson has started to get a lot of accolades for his arm in recent weeks, and for good reason. He made it up over the 4,000-yard mark for the season as a thrower, and that has diminished his need to run the ball as much. However, there aren't many quarterbacks with more than 500 yards on the ground, and Wilson is still at his best when he's moving around outside of the pocket.
The Vikings quietly held opposing quarterbacks to an 88.0 quarterback rating this year. Sure, Wilson threw for 274 yards and three TDs against the Vikes a few weeks ago, but he also rushed for 51 yards and a TD. We suspect he'll be in the 50s or 60s in rushing yards when this game is said and done with.
Play Jordan Reed Over in Receptions
Reed was the X-Factor for the Redskins all season long. He only played in 14 games, and for all intents and purposes, he was really only out there for a total of 13 when you factor out all of the time he missed with various injuries. That said, he still led the team in receptions with 87 and receiving yards with 952.
Kirk Cousins isn't a guy who is going to throw the ball down the field a ton, and we have a feeling the Green Bay defensive line is going to contain at the point of attack and keep Alfred Morris from getting anything going on the ground.
That's where Reed is sure to come into play. Anything less than seven or eight receptions would be a shock to us for Washington's top receiver, and if the Redskins ultimately fall behind, it's anyone's guess just how high that number could be, especially with so much attention rightfully being paid to DeSean Jackson to make sure he doesn't get behind the defense.
