Don’t look now but Sunday’s contest has plenty of bearing on the NFC East standings. The Giants gained some ground last week and didn’t even play. New York can improve its first place standing with a win and has given the Redskins fits in recent meetings, going 5-0 SU and ATS in the last five confrontations.

ODDS ANALYSIS
New York has been a solid play with extra rest, going 6-1 SU in its last seven following a bye and the line was wagered to -2.5. Washington is 4-0 SU and 3-1 ATS in its last four home games.
KEY INJURIES
Alfred Morris – Washington’s running back aggravated a rib injury against the Panthers and is questionable to play Sunday. Matt Jones would get a bulk of the carries as long as he can hold on to the football.
Trent Williams – Suffered a bruised kneecap last week and is questionable to play against the Giants. Ty Nsekhe is listed as the backup on the team’s depth chart or Tom Compton could slide into the spot if Williams is unable to play.
KEY MISMATCH
What was once the Giants’ weakness, special teams play has become a strength. Return specialist Dwayne Harris and kicker Josh Brown are neck-and-neck in terms of the unit’s MVP. Harris has had his special teams duties scaled back given his increasing role in the offense, but his vision and acceleration plus his patience in letting things develop in front of him have been instrumental in the Giants winning the starting field position battle. Brown shook off an early season slump with his kickoffs and has since been stellar in both that area as well as converting his field-goal attempts. Newcomer Brad Wing has been solid with his directional punting and is tied for sixth in the league with 19 punts placed inside the 20.
KEY STAT
+12 – New York’s turnover margin. The Giants have forced the second-most turnovers in the NFL with 22 and rank second in differential. Washington turned the ball over five times last week and is minus-5 in differential.
BETTING ANGLE
The Redskins have to forget the officials, the 28-point defeat and anything else for that matter. They need to remember that with six games left in the season, they still have a shot at the NFC East title. Part of the reason for that is the play of the division members. Still, the Redskins enter this week with a chance to be in first place come Sunday night. But the Skins have plenty to prove before anyone will buy into them as legitimate contenders. Their 0-5 road record leads to some skepticism. But they are 4-1 at home and their final three games include division matchups against the Giants and Dallas. They also play at Philadelphia and at the Cowboys to close the season. The Eagles appear to be coming undone, the Cowboys are 3-7 but just returned Tony Romo. The Giants could be the toughest to beat out. With four division games in the last six, the Redskins are in good position to control their fate. Of course, now they just have to win.
ANALYSIS AND ODDS PREDICTION
The Giants went into their bye seething over a one-point loss to the Patriots in a game they had slip through their fingertips. The Giants are probably as healthy as they’ve been all season and it couldn’t have come at a better time. They head into their final six games with a one-game lead in the division and a chance to gain some ground. It won’t be easy against a Skins team that has been good at home. But the G-Men, despite going just 2-2 in their last four, are playing good football. The offense has been clicking and Eli Manning is on top of his game. New York’s run game continues to struggle, but expect the Giants to attack the league’s 30th ranked run defense. The slightest bit of success opens up the passing game and Manning will take advantage.
