Games of the Week

Raiders at Chiefs – Thursday 8:25 p.m. ET

Thursday Night Football hasn't had the best games in the world this season, but this is two straight games that are truly top notch. The AFC West has been flat out awesome this year, and there's still a ton of football to be played to determine which one of the three contenders will ultimately win it and which two will be faced with Wild Card fights with the rest of the conference.

Derek Carr and the Raiders haven't lost a road game yet this season, but this is the biggest test of their campaign thus far in Arrowhead Stadium against a Kansas City team that virtually never loses at home. Alex Smith is flat out a different quarterback in this stadium, and this defense just feeds off of this Arrowhead crowd. You know that crowd is going to be raucous for sure after KC won roadies at Denver and Atlanta to keep place, and a win in this game would put it in first place and in the driver's seat with three games left in the division.

Remember that the Chiefs took the first game of the season between these two teams in the middle of October, a game that also happens to represent Oakland's last loss.

Ravens at Patriots – Monday 8:30 p.m. ET

There are other games that have more meaning than this one on the surface, namely Saints/Bucs, Seahawks/Packers, Cowboys/Giants and Texans/Colts, but the Ravens/Patriots game is intriguing, knowing that it's a very likely playoff matchup down the line.

If you're a team in the AFC, you have to be asking yourself if there's any way your team can go into Foxboro and beat the Patriots. Though there's three teams in the AFC West that believe they can, we're under the belief that just one team is equipped to do it in the entire AFC, and this Baltimore team is it. The Ravens are hefty dogs at +8 in this one, but they've got a pedigree and a history that suggests they can be a thorn in New England's side. Tom Brady didn't play a great game last week at home against the Rams, and if he does that again in this one, you can bet that Joe Flacco and company are going to be ready to pounce.

We've seen New England lose before in primetime at home against the Seahawks, but this should be an easier challenge. But imagine what a boost it would be to Baltimore if it could actually win this game if these teams were to meet again in January!
