GAME OF THE WEEK
Very quietly, the AFC East is could end up being one of the best divisions in the league. The Bills pulled off the biggest win of the week in Week 1 when they knocked off Andrew Luck and the Colts, holding that awesome offense scoreless for nearly three full quarters. Now though, they have to play against the team that might have had the best overall showing in Week 1. New England's offense was great against Pittsburgh in the opener of the season, but now, the test is on.
Tom Brady has had all sorts of problems historically against Rex Ryan, though the argument could be made that this is a tougher challenge against this talented Buffalo defense than the Jets ever gave him.
The Bills have a huge home field advantage here in Orchard Park, and they have had a history of being an annoyance to the Pats on this field. They might be 9-2 ATS in their last 11 games on this field, but they also know that this is the biggest challenge they have to yet another AFC East crown. If Buffalo loses this game, there might literally be no way to win this division from here.
WEEK 2 NFL ODDS NOTES
-There is only one double-digit favorite in Week 2 of the season, that being the Saints at -10.5 against the Buccaneers. In fact, New Orleans is the only team in the NFL at this point which is favored by more than 6.5 points. However, it should be noted that Baltimore could end up being favored by more than this when the odds open up in that game if Derek Carr, who hurt his hand against Cincinnati last week ends up not playing.
-The highest total of the week is not surprisingly the game involving the Eagles for the second straight week. Philadelphia and Dallas have a total set at 54.5, the highest mark of the season to date. It should be noted that this is the only total of the weekend to reach beyond 50 after Week 1 saw three totals be at or beyond 50 (and the Dallas/New York game came just short at 49.5).
-The lowest total of the weekend is set at just 41, that being between the Texans and the Panthers. Houston could have a quarterback controversy on its hands after benching Brian Hoyer for Ryan Mallett in the second half in Week 1 against Kansas City.
-The biggest swing for a team from being a favorite in Week 1 to an underdog in Week 2 is not surprisingly Tampa Bay. The Bucs looked terrible against the Titans, and they went from being favored by three in that game to getting 10.5 in this one against the Saints, a shift of 13.5 total points.
-Interestingly enough, the biggest swing for a team from being an underdog in Week 1 to a favorite in Week 2 is New Orleans. The Saints were +2.5 on the road against the Saints and are now -10.5 against the Buccaneers.
-The Rams are -3 on the road against the Redskins in Week 2. They were favored just one time last season in eight road games, and that also happened to be here at FedEx Field against these very same Redskins. The last time St. Louis was favored on the road against any other team in the NFL was on the final day of the 2010 season against Seattle, a game which was for the NFC West title.
