Our cash game picks were simply fantastic last week with Cam Newton, Jamaal Charles and A.J. Green all finishing in the top four fantasy performers at their respective positions. Our GPP picks left much to be desired, but that’s going to happen from time to time when you search through the bedrock looking to score that diamond in the rough.
The players listed below will help get you in the money, but you’ll need to put the work in to have a shot at finishing in the green in Week 4.
QB
Andrew Luck – Brandon Weeden, Michael Vick, Andy Dalton, Russell Wilson and Jimmy Clausen all face the worst fantasy defenses in the league when it comes to defending the quarterback. However, I will be targeting Andrew Luck in Week 4 who is very familiar with how the Jags will try to defend him. Jacksonville has allowed Ryan Tannehill and Tom Brady to pass for 350+ yards the last two weeks to go along with 2 TDs each. Luck has not gotten out to the greatest of starts to the 2015 season, but in a pair of starts against the Jags last season, he went for 623 yards and 5 TDs.
David Carr – The Bears are only giving up 195.3 yards per game through the air to date, but that has more to do with the run defense being inept in allowing 135.7 yards per game at 4.7 yards per carry. While that bodes well for Latavius Murray, I can’t help but take another stab with Carr at his current price point since I don’t believe he’s getting his due in terms of a salary increase after tearing it up the last couple weeks. You can put some really nice GPP lineups together with DC as your QB1.
RB
Mark Ingram – It’s not very pretty for running backs in Week 4. Adrian Peterson and Jamaal Charles are always must starts, but they’re both on the road and the former is running into the teeth of a stout Denver rush defense. I will not be ponying up top dollar for running backs in my cash games. Instead, I’ll look the way of Ingram who should get plenty of looks with either a gimpy Drew Brees or backup Luke McCown leading the Saints’ offense. Dallas is fresh off conceding 3 TDs to Devonte Freeman and Ingram went for 50 yards and a score and caught all five of his pass targets for 50 yards against a much better Panthers defense. His lower salary allows you to be more creative in your cash games.
Danny Woodhead – Since hitting pay dirt twice opening week against the Lions, Woodhead has been held relatively quiet by the Bengals and Vikings. However, this game is at home and the little scat back loves to put on shows when in front of the San Diego crowd. Cleveland possesses the very worst rush defense in the league allowing 158.3 yards per game at 4.9 yards per carry. Should the Chargers be in any goal to go situations, his number will likely be called upon and he usually makes good on those opportunities more times than not; especially when at home.
WR
Julio Jones – If rain wasn’t in the forecast this weekend in Cincinnati, I’d likely look A.J. Green’s way for a second straight week with him matched up against a pathetic Kansas City pass defense that just got torched by Aaron Rodgers. Instead, I’ll go with the No. 1 ranked fantasy wide receiver in Julio Jones who has done nothing but put up 100+ yard receiving games the first three weeks and find the end zone four times. The Texans have only conceded two passing TDs thus far, but J.J. Watt and company are yet to match up against a wide receiver the caliber of J.J. Start him with confidence in all cash games.
Seth Roberts – David Carr has thrown for five touchdowns the last two weeks. Two of those three have gone to WR3 Seth Roberts who pulled in 3 receptions for 56 yards and a tuddy last week in Cleveland. He costs the minimum at the WR position and could pay off huge running up against a Chicago pass defense that had allowed seven passing touchdowns heading into last week’s tilt with the Seahawks in Seattle. Roberts is the epitome of “diamond in the rough” and could force you to go out and buy his jersey if he leads you to GPP glory on Sunday.
Best of luck with all your Week 4 DFS action – make that paper!
