Things are looking grim for sure for the Chicago Bears. They're 0-2, and both of their losses at home.
Now, they have to go out on the road for the first time to take on the Seattle Seahawks in their home opener, and they are the biggest underdogs of the entire season.
WHEN THE SEATTLE SEAHAWKS HAVE THE BALL
The Seahawks have yet to win a game this year, and a lot of the reason for that is this offense, which has really gotten away from its identity. You think of this club as a running team, one which is going to continue to just slug it out in there, and if need be, backs will come in to spell Marshawn Lynch.
Lynch has gotten his carries with 33 in two games, but the rest of the running backs on this team have a total of six runs. And no rushing touchdowns? The Seahawks?
In fact, Seattle's offense looks like it has been a lot better than it actually has been. This unit has just three touchdowns in two games, and it has been helped a ton from its defense and its special teams.
There is no doubt though, that the Bears have an awful defense, and this is a unit which is only going to be abused more and more as time goes on if the offense can't figure out how to stay on the field.
What we really look forward to here in this game from a live betting standpoint is if the Seahawks are dominating time of possession. If they are, we know that these Bears are going to get worn down at some point, and that's when Seattle could really make its big run. Live bettors just need to be patient, and they could take real advantage here of this situation, even against a double-digit point spread.
WHEN THE CHICAGO BEARS HAVE THE BALL
With Jay Cutler out with a hamstring problem, the Bears have to turn the ball over to Jimmy Clausen. Chicago fans might think that this is no great loss, knowing that Cutler hasn't been good at all in years, but the oddsmakers know what the score really is. Clausen stinks, and he isn't as good as Cutler is, which obviously isn't saying a whole heck of a lot.
Let's not forget that this offense as it is was already battered in the offseason. Kevin White won't make his debut any time in the near future, while Brandon Marshall is now playing for the Jets. Alshon Jeffrey, the last man standing from this receiving corps per se, has a hamstring problem as well and sat out last week's game.
Matt Forte has been great, amassing 271 yards on 48 touches in two games, but he can't do this by himself, especially against this defense.
The Seahawks now have their Legion of Boom back in order now that Kam Chancellor has reported after his lengthy holdout. With Richard Sherman, Earl Thomas and Chancellor back together again, live bettors could see the ferocity of this defense once again, which could be horrid news for the Bears.
TREND TO TRACK
Last season, the Seahawks were favored by more than seven points five times from November on, and they were absolutely dominant in those games. Seattle went a perfect 5-0 in those duels, winning them by an average of 18.0 points per game. Yes, this is a big time point spread beyond two touchdowns, but Seattle has a history of being great in these spots, which is something live bettors cannot forget or be afraid of.
