Seattle Seahawks face must-win against San Francisco 49ers to keep legitimate playoff hopes alive

Seahawks-at-Niners-Picks

All good things must come to an end in the NFL, and the Seattle Seahawks' run as a dominant team might be at that point. They had a season win total of 11 wins this year, but they're on the verge of locking up under bettors before the end of the first half of the season. The San Francisco 49ers are anything but good, but they've been stingy here at home and would love to help bury the Seahawks the same way the Seahawks effectively buried them a couple seasons ago.

WHEN THE SEATTLE SEAHAWKS HAVE THE BALL

Russell Wilson got his big payday, and Jimmy Graham is starting to get his production, but there are still some real problems for this Seattle offense. Wilson still really has no intermediate pass game, taking advantage of deep shots and Graham in the flats and up the seams. However, that third and 8-10 type of range has been incredibly problematic all season for the Seahawks.

Seattle is also having no luck in the red zone, and that's where games are ultimately being lost for live bettors.

The 49ers are generally remembered for allowing 90 points in two weeks against the Steelers and the Cardinals, but here at home, they've been something completely different. That 20 they allowed last week to Baltimore could've easily been less if not for a garbage time score. Proof of just how good this defense is though, came against Green Bay a few weeks ago. The Packers were held to just 17 total points.

Live bettors should be wary of the long stretches of time it takes for the Seahawks to score even if they do get in the end zone. The 49ers haven't been prone to these deep balls here at home, and at night, there could be a lot of wind whipping around in the Bay Area to make life harder on Wilson.

WHEN THE SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS HAVE THE BALL

Colin Kaepernick stinks. We aren't even going to waste our time going into all of his lousy numbers. He won't be able to use his legs against the swift Seattle defense, and that'll put a lot of pressure on Carlos Hyde to consistently keep the ball moving.

There's hope for the Niners and their live bettors, though. Last week, it's like a light bulb clicked on for Jim Tomsula and this offense. Torrey Smith needs to only really be used on deep routes, while Anquan Boldin is best served to be run underneath coverage.

The former, in this case, is vitally important. Time and time again, there has been confusion in the Seattle secondary this season. Typically, it has been the tight end which has really burned this unit, but we're sure that Smith can get loose, too. The fact that Kam Chancellor missed training camp and the start of the season is really starting to show from our standpoint with all of the blown assignments.

The 49ers might not have sustained drives, but they certainly could get a shot or two in this one down the field, and that might make all the difference for live bettors.

TREND TO TRACK

The Seahawks have had the lead in all six of their games this year in the fourth quarter. Amazingly, they've been outscored 37-0 in the final five minutes of games this year, and that's why they're just 2-4.
