Injury-Report-Super-Bowl-50

It seems with each passing day, the likelihood is there that both the Carolina Panthers and Denver Broncos are going to be at full strength for Super Bowl 50 a week from Saturday.

Notable injuries which have been reported as of Thursday night…

Jonathan Stewart and Fozzy Whitaker – Carolina's main two running backs were both held out of practice both on Wednesday and Thursday. Both were purely for precautionary reasons. Stewart is the far more notable of the two names on this list as the Panthers' bell cow in the backfield, and the fact that he missed the last three games of the regular season with a foot injury does make this new ankle injury at least a little bit concerning. With Both Stewart and Whitaker out of the fold in practice, Cameron Artis-Payne has done the heavy lifting, though it's doubtful that the Auburn man will have any serious role in Super Bowl 50.

Jared Allen – Allen really wanted to play in the NFC Championship Game against Arizona, but he was held out with a foot injury. The fact of the matter is that Allen is rather useless as a defensive end if he isn't able to rush the passer, and that's why he was held out and replaced by Kona Ealy in the starting lineup instead for that game. Allen is back at practice and reportedly is a full go at this point, and we can't imagine that he's going to miss out on the Super Bowl.

Thomas Davis – Here's the big question mark for the Panthers. Davis broke his arm last week against the Cardinals, and he's had a plate inserted in his forearm, and he's confident that he's playing on Super Sunday. Fortunately for Davis, his game is based on pure speed, and his arm won't play a role in that. However, if he can't wrap up and tackle, that could be a huge problem against a Denver team which is very likely to run the ball right at him a few times at the outset of the game to test that arm.

Roman Harper – Harper left the NFC Championship Game with an eye injury, but he's back at practice as a full participant and will certainly play in the Super Bowl.

T.J. Ward – Ward is going to play a huge role in the Super Bowl, knowing that he's going to be tasked to cover the middle of the field where Greg Olsen loves to roam. He suffered an ankle injury in the AFC Championship Game but tried to play through it late on. Gary Kubiak says that Ward looks just fine in practice, and he's certainly going to give it a go at the Super Bowl.

Damian Stewart – Denver's other safety is a much more difficult question to answer. He's the only Bronco not on IR to not be at least a limited participant in practice at least on either Wednesday or Thursday, and that tells us that the knee injury he picked up against the Patriots could be problematic going forward. Remember when Rob Gronkowski caught that long pass in the middle of the field to setup the touchdown late in the fourth quarter? That was largely due to the fact that Stewart wasn't on the field for the end of the game. His impact will be huge in this one, knowing that Denver's top target is a tight end as well with Olsen, and he's probably the only player legitimately up in the air for the Super Bowl.
