Of late, we've seen the Carolina Panthers really jump out early on their foes. That's why it's completely understandable that their players, for the most part, are going to be the ones who are favored to score the first touchdown of Super Bowl 50.

Part of the big issue with the Broncos is that you just don't know who in the heck is going to end up with the ball in their hands near the end zone. The backfield is completely split between Ronnie Hillman and C.J. Anderson, and the two have seven and five touchdowns respectively. Furthermore, Peyton Manning has had just four games all year long, two of which have come since Week 3 with more than one passing touchdown.
Now go back and look at what the top receivers for the Broncos have done. Both Demaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders have six touchdowns this year, and neither one has a trip to the end zone in this postseason. Heck, Thomas didn't even have a ball thrown anywhere in his vicinity in the AFC Championship Game when the Broncos were in scoring range.
Carolina is a bit of a tough read as well. Ted Ginn Jr. has 10 receiving touchdowns this year to lead the team, but he hasn't found the end zone as a receiver since Week 15. That said, Ginn did have the first touchdown of the game against Arizona last week, albeit as a receiver.
Greg Olsen has six scores, but there's been a growing sense in recent weeks that he's the man who Cam Newton is going to look for in the most tense of situations, not necessarily early on.
Jonathan Stewart would make a lot of sense as well, knowing that he's got six rushing touchdowns on the campaign. Even Mike Tolbert, the man who is used quite a bit as the power back near the goal line could pose some really good value even though he only had one rushing touchdown all year long.
Of course, it's worth remembering that Newton had 10 rushing touchdowns this year in the regular season as well. Newton also had a pair of rushing TDs against the Cardinals. No one does a better job of leaping over the pile from the 1-yard line than does the man who will likely be named the MVP in the next week and a half, and against a team which has a good history of coming up big on the goal line, having the extra blocker and letting the massive Newton try to power into the end zone isn't a bad idea.
However, the man we'd pick here is Ginn. The Broncos' defense isn't easy to score against, but the way that opponents have had success against them has been on deep shots and somewhat tricky plays. Ginn has gotten his hands on a reverse in each of the last two games, and we wouldn't put it past the Panthers to get the ball in his hands again.
It's also entirely possible that Ginn could have a kick or punt return for a touchdown as well. Let's not forget that this football game isn't going to be played in Denver, and in fact, the wind could play a big impact here to Brandon McManus and the Broncos' kicking game.
Considering the fact that Ginn is going to be a huge underdog, likely at or near 10 to 1 or so, we think he's got a great chance of being the first man in the end zone for the second straight game.
