Super Bowl Odds Report

Things don’t always work out the way they're supposed to in the NFL playoffs. And true, if you're a fan of the Texans, Raiders, Chiefs, Dolphins, Seahawks, Cowboys, Lions or Giants, this bracket didn't end up the way that you wanted it to. But for the rest of us out there, it's hard to say that we don't have two of, at worst, the three best teams in each conference playing against each other for the right to go to the Super Bowl in Houston. As a result, we've got an epic day of football ahead of us on January 22.

Super Bowl 51 Odds at BookMaker.eu
New England Patriots +130
Atlanta Falcons +260

Pittsburgh Steelers +450
Green Bay Packers +475

AFC

We've got everything that we could have asked for at this point in the AFC. With apologies to the Chiefs, they're a boring team that no one really wanted to watch go into Foxboro and get buried by that stout New England defense. What we really wanted to see was how the Pats were going to play against the best quarterback and offense in totality they've gone up against this season. Outside of Joe Flacco, there isn't a quarterback the Patriots have beaten since Week 1 that has a single career postseason victory.

It's clear that the AFC is going to have the edge more often than not in the Super Bowl, and that's why New England is a bigger favorite than Atlanta and Pittsburgh is a bigger favorite than Green Bay. In all four of the possible Super Bowl matchups, the AFC team is going to be favored. The only possible exception would be if the Falcons really blow out the Packers and the Steelers eke past the Patriots, then perhaps Atlanta would be favored in the big one.

The only question both of these teams have is whether they can play against the NFC. The AFC was horribly weak this season when push came to shove, especially with all of the AFC West teams tapering out at the end of the year, and almost by default, these were the two best teams and the two that were destined to be left standing at the end of the Divisional Round of the playoffs.

New England remains the prohibitive favorite at +130, while Pittsburgh will head into conference championship weekend at +450 to win the Super Bowl.

NFC

The NFC still doesn't feel particularly cut and dry, even with just two teams left to fight this out from the group of six that got started.

Logic tells you that the Packers are so hot that they should be able to go into Atlanta and at least have a really good shot at an upset. The oddsmakers didn't agree, opening up the Falcons at -6 in the NFC Championship Game, and as a result, Aaron Rodgers and the gang are the biggest dogs on the board to hoist the Lombardi Trophy at +475.

Green Bay has won eight straight games, and there isn't a quarterback in the NFL playing better football than No. 12. Of course, Matt Ryan and the Falcons might have something to say about that as well, and the oddsmakers truly believe they have a legitimate chance to win the Super Bowl after being lined at +260 to win it all, a stern decrease from the +700 they were set at last week.

The Georgia Dome has always been a nasty place for visitors to come and play this time of year, and this is the last game ever before the stadium gets shut down. The Falcons also get an edge being the only dome team left in the playoffs at this point, as the Super Bowl is being played on the turf at NRG Stadium in Houston.
