It was all about the offense for the Atlanta Falcons this season and the top scoring team in the NFL during the regular season rode the right arm of Matt Ryan to just its second Super Bowl appearance in team history. The mantra in sports has always been defense wins championships, but the Falcons are looking to change that behind a balanced attack that includes some of the top play makers in the game. Part of what makes the Super Bowl so great is that there are so many prop bets available for the game and there certainly is one for you.

Falcons Score in Every Quarter?
YES +155
NO -200
The Falcons scored in every quarter of their NFC Championship rout of Green Bay and given their weapons on offense, it isn’t a stretch to think they can do it against the Patriots. Atlanta boasts superstars at quarterback, running back and wide receiver, and the trio was responsible for the Falcons leading the league in scoring during the regular season with an average of nearly 34 points per game. They’ve been even better during the postseason averaging 40 points per contest and scoring in seven of the eight quarters played.
What makes Atlanta so dangerous is their balance. We’ve heard about Ryan and Jones and how prolific the passing game is, but the Falcons ran for 120 yards per game during the regular season behind the duo of Devonta Freeman and Tevin Coleman. The pair combined to score 19 touchdowns on the ground with Freeman tallying 11. The Falcons scored in every quarter in nine of their 16 regular season games and penetrated some stout groups in Denver and Seattle. It’ll be a challenge against a New England squad that led the NFL by a wide margin in fewest points allowed.

This is a matchup of strength versus strength with the Falcons offense and the Patriots defense. Atlanta’s exploits are well documented and Ryan is a favorite for the league’s MVP award after amassing career-highs in passing yards and touchdowns. The Falcons averaged 33.8 points per game during the regular year and scored 80 points in their first two playoff contests. They’ve eclipsed the 27-point mark in eight straight games and topped that in 14 of 18 games this season. In other words, the Falcons can score.
Six of their games came against their NFC South brethren, a group not known for playing defense, and were held below that threshold against some of the better defensive clubs in the league. Atlanta was held to 23 points by the Broncos in Week 5 of the regular season and tallied 24 in a loss to Seattle the following week. They did light up the Seahawks in the Divisional Round and exploited a weak Green Bay defense in the NFC Championship. One thing we can’t overlook is the expected loss of offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan, who is reportedly the 49ers next head coach. It is the biggest game of the year, but Shanahan likely has his head elsewhere with his first head coaching job coming up. Will that affect the Falcons’ offense?

Even though they led the league in touchdowns scored, the Falcons weren’t all about the six-point play this season. Veteran kicker Matt Bryant has been around a long time and at age 42 had the best season of his career and booted the fourth-most three-pointers during the regular season by connecting on 34 of 37 attempts for a 91.9 accuracy rate. He was one of just two kickers with more than 30 attempts to convert better than 90 percent. He also showed off his leg by making a 59-yarder, the second-longest kick in the league during the regular year. Bryant wasn’t needed in the first two playoff games, but he did convert on all three tries, and he will get a chance to cash the over in this one.

Under 3.5 -145
If you think the Falcons can score four touchdowns you better go ahead and play the prop for total points scored. If Atlanta is able to crack the best scoring defense in the NFL for four touchdowns, they’ll also play over their total, giving you a pair of wins. It isn’t crazy to assume the Falcons can do this. They did lead the league with 63 touchdowns and scored at least four in a game nine times during the regular season. They erupted for four more touchdowns against Seattle in the Divisional Round and tallied six against the Packers in the NFC Championship Game.
But they haven’t faced a defense like the Patriots for some time. New England allowed opponents to score just 27 touchdowns during the regular season and never surrendered more than three in any of their 16 games. They gave up one to the Texans in the Divisional Round and limited the potent Steelers to a pair of touchdowns in the AFC Championship. Atlanta could get help from its defense to reach the over. The Falcons tied for the league lead with five defensive scores during the regular season and are an opportunistic bunch.
