Will any player do the Dirty Bird touchdown celebration?

Atlanta sports and iconic movements are somewhat of a tradition whether it be the Braves and the Tomahawk chop or the Falcons and the Dirty Bird dance. It’s been used to taunt the team by opposing players when they were struggling, but could be used as a momentum builder on Super Bowl Sunday.

Popularized by Jamal Anderson in another fairytale Falcon season when the team went 14-2, capturing the NFC Championship in 1998-1999, the Dirty Bird touchdown celebration fit Anderson’s showmanship style and became linked with that Cinderella season. Given Atlanta’s return to prominence this season, it’s not a surprise that the dance has seen resurgence amongst fans, but do any of the Falcons’ players have a Super Bowl Dirty Bird in store for us?

Of course, for the Dirty Bird dance to make a Super Bowl appearance, the Falcons will need to reach the end zone. The Patriots did a great job of slowing a very strong Steelers offense, but there shouldn’t be much doubt that the Falcons will get on the board. After all, it’s the defense that’s the biggest question for this team, not the offense.

Look for Matt Ryan to find Julio Jones for a touchdown pass and there’s a good chance Devonta Freeman—or if not him, Tevin Coleman—notches a touchdown on the ground.

Will any of the Falcons’ whip out this iconic dance? It’s very possible. This is a team that will dance, as shown by owner Arthur Blank’s moves in the locker room after the team punched its ticked to the Super Bowl. The moves come all the way from the top for this team so look for at least one appearance of the Dirty Bird touchdown celebration in the Super Bowl, particularly should the Falcons grab an early lead. There’s no doubt harkening back to the team’s history will fire up the Falcon faithful making the trip to Houston.

Alternatively, if the game gets a bit testy, could a Patriots’ player whip it out to taunt the Falcons and try to get into their heads?

Will someone illegally enter the field of play during Super Bowl LI?

Everyone is looking for their five minutes of fame, but some people are willing to do much more extreme things to get it, like running onto a full NFL stadium during the biggest event in American sports. NFL streakers are far from a rare thing and having a Super Bowl streaker isn’t unheard of either.

While many view the interruption as an annoyance, there will be plenty of people making big bucks on the event and perhaps it’ll get the love that Kevin Harlan gave the streaker in the 49ers versus Rams shutout back in September with another exciting play-by-play call of the NFL streaker’s journey up and down the field.

Interestingly, the last Super Bowl streaker to successful get his moment in the proverbial sun was in Super Bowl 38 also held in Houston. Many times, the media does its best to minimize the publicity for the streaker, but the streaker—Mark Roberts—got plenty of notarity in a game headlined by a wardrobe malfunction of a different sort. While Janet Jackson’s incident gained most of the press, video of Mr. Roberts getting leveled by the Patriots’ Matt Chatham emerged after the fact. The game will be in the same building this year with the Pats once again on the field so there’s plenty of similarities and a clear precedent for it to happen again, making it an even more intriguing prop bet.
