Week 10 NFL Odds - Green Bay Packers at Tennessee Titans Game Preview

Packers-at-Titans-bm

Having played just one away game in the last month and a half, the Green Bay Packers will make up for that scheduling quirk with the next three games on the road beginning with their Week 10 encounter at the Tennessee Titans. Losing three of the last four games with two of those defeats coming at Lambeau Field, hitting the bricks may be just what the Packers need. Facing a Titans club that has beaten Jacksonville twice and Cleveland in its last 18 home games might be even better.

Kickoff for this regular season Week 10 game is set for Sunday, November 13, 2016, at 1 p.m. ET at Nissan Stadium.

Tennessee Titans +2.5

Odds Analysis

The Titans are trying to figure things out and just when we think they have, they stub their toe with a chance to make a move in the AFC South. Early money is favoring the Packers at -2.5 and given the Titans recent home woes, I wouldn’t be surprised to see the spread increase. Green Bay has struggles of its own, but the Pack has a favorable matchup and the spread is in their favor.

Injury Report

Micah Hyde – Just when the Packers get one secondary player back, they lose another. Hyde left Sunday’s game with a shoulder injury, again leaving the Green Bay defensive backfield thin despite the return of Quinten Rollins. The defense allowed Andrew Luck to complete several key passes in the fourth quarter to squelch Green Bay’s comeback bid.

Derrick Henry – The former Heisman Trophy winner sustained a pregame calf injury Sunday and didn’t play against the Chargers. Tennessee’s run game, which is one of the best in the league, suffered with just 80 yards total against San Diego. The Titans could have another tough go facing Green Bay’s top ranked run defense without Henry.

Matchup to Watch

San Diego offered a blueprint on how to beat the Titans and you know the Packers will be studying the game film this week. There’s no denying that Marcus Mariota is a talent but his recklessness with the football has been a major concern for Mike Mularkey and his staff. Tennessee shifted to a run-heavy attack with the additions of Murray and Henry, but when the run game sputters like it did against the Chargers, the Titans have struggled. It’s imperative that the Titans have success running the football to win games. That wasn’t the case Sunday when they managed just 80 yards. With their inability to run the ball, Mariota tried to rally his team. However, two costly turnovers resulted in scores and the Titans missed a chance to climb above .500.

Green Bay has the league’s top run defense and without Henry, the Titans could be forced to throw the ball more than they like. The Packers secondary is hurting, but Mariota has proven to be a gifter this season. He’s thrown eight interceptions and has fumbled seven other times. More alarming is that five of his miscues have resulted directly in points. If Green Bay can limit the ground game, Mariota could be forced into more mistakes.

Free ATS Pick

The Packers sure could use a healthy running back. The absence of Eddie Lacy and James Starks has put tremendous pressure on Aaron Rodgers, and while he has, for the most part, delivered, it’s hard to be successful with a one-dimensional approach. Using Ty Montgomery and Randall Cobb in the backfield worked the first time, but teams caught on after that. Green Bay stumbled for three quarters before a late rally made the score in their loss to the Colts more respectable. Defense and special teams breakdowns proved costly and now the Pack must regroup on the road.

At least the first game of the trip is against a team that has been consistently inconsistent and has had a tough time winning at home. The Pack could get a boost on defense with the return of Clay Matthews and that’s scary news for Mariota. Limiting the yards allowed on the ground and forcing Mariota to beat them through the air gives the Packers a good shot. Playing with a sense of urgency and not waiting until the second half to show up also bodes well for the visitors. Green Bay is the more talented team and will be hungry after Sunday’s debacle.

NFL Odds: Packers 27, Titans 20
