Week 10 NFL Odds - Los Angeles Rams at New York Jets Game Preview

Rams-at-Jets-bm

The Jared Goff watch is on and you can make a wager as to when the Los Angeles Rams will start the No. 1 overall pick in this year’s draft. With the season going downhill fast, the Rams might want to make the switch sooner rather than later. But Jeff Fisher continues to stick to his guns as the losses mount, the interceptions increase and the points evaporate. We are likely to get another heavy dose of Case Keenum in Week 10, however, as the Rams pay a visit to the New York Jets.

This contest in Week 10 of the regular season will go down Sunday, November 13, 2016, at 1 p.m. ET at MetLife Stadium.

NFL Odds at BookMaker.eu
Los Angeles Rams +2.5
New York Jets -2.5
Over/Under 39.5

Odds Analysis

The Jets opened with the standard field goal for home field advantage and the spread was wagered down a half point. This is a tricky game between two teams headed in the same direction that don’t have a lot of familiarity with each other. They haven’t played since 2012 and a lot has changed since then. We do know that both teams struggle to score points and the total is the lowest on the board. Still the under has some value at its current 39.5.

Injury Report

Ryan Clady – The former Bronco had been the Jets starting tackle but has been slowed by a shoulder injury. He missed a few games before getting back in the lineup in a limited role last week. His presence on the line could be a deterrent to the Rams edge rushers, who got after Cam Newton last week.

Ryan Fitzpatrick – The Jets starting quarterback sustained a sprained medial collateral ligament in Sunday’s loss to the Dolphins and his status will be evaluated as the week moves on. Todd Bowles said Fitz will start if he has the mobility, otherwise Bryce Petty would make his first NFL start.

Matchup to Watch

The gang was back for the Rams and the defensive line did a number on Carolina’s offense Sunday. For the first time in over a month the front four of Aaron Donald, Michael Brockers, William Hayes and Robert Quinn were all on the field, and the unit wreaked havoc on Cam Newton. The Rams wasted another solid defensive effort with their inability to generate anything on offense, but the D kept L.A. close by posting five sacks on Newton and countless other hits and hurries.

The Rams pass rush had been non-existent with the reserves playing, but the group resembled the menacing force we’d seen in years past. Donald was the main instigator, maneuvering his way through the Panthers offensive line to register two sacks and the line helped limit Carolina to just 59 rushing yards and 241 total yards. It’s possible the group could have similar success against a banged up Jets line that may be without two starters. New York allowed three sacks to the Dolphins last week and Fitzpatrick, if he plays, will be working on a bum wheel.

Free ATS Pick

You have to applaud the patience Fisher has shown with Goff and not rushing the rookie into anything, but the patience of the fan base is wearing thin and the Rams’ season could be lost if Keenum stays at the helm. Goff may not be the answer, but the Rams gave up a boat load to get him and it might be time to see if he can carry the torch. Fisher has his reasons and they’re likely selfish considering he’s on the hook for an extension.

With the exception of a barrage against Tampa Bay, the Rams have been pathetic on offense. The inability of Todd Gurley to build off his rookie campaign has left Keenum out to dry and the QB just isn’t able to handle it. The strength of the Jets is run defense and Gurley will find it difficult once again to squirm free. If the burden is tossed on Keenum he likely crumbles. This has the makings of a defensive struggle and a turnover will be huge. I’m counting on the Jets getting the turnover for a cover win.

NFL Odds: Jets 16, Rams 13
