Week 11 NFL Odds - Philadelphia Eagles at Seattle Seahawks Game Preview

Eagles-at-Seahawks-bm

Rookie Carson Wentz has made quite the splash as the Philadelphia Eagles starter. But it’s a good bet that he never encountered an environment during his days at FCS North Dakota State quite like what he’ll see on Sunday. The Seattle Seahawks are coming off an emotional win at New England, getting a small amount of revenge for their Super Bowl XLIX loss that denied them a chance to repeat as league champions. And the Seahawks have found their offense, just in time for another charge at a division title and the postseason.

Kickoff for this regular season Week 11 game is set for Sunday, November 20, 2016, at 4:25 p.m. ET at CenturyLink Field.

Odds Analysis

It’s been a different story for the Eagles on the road this season. Unbeaten in their own yard, Philly is looking for its first away victory and has a difficult task in knocking off the Seahawks to get it, and that’s likely why the spread opened at Seattle -6. The early wagers are backing the home team, and why not after a colossal win in New England and a spotless 4-0 SU home record. The Eagles are on the outside looking in and will play desperate, giving the over plenty of value.

Injury Report

Nolan Carroll – The Eagles’ starting cornerback entered the concussion protocol after last game and is questionable to suit up against the Seahawks. With Carroll likely out and Leodis McKelvin nursing a hamstring injury, the secondary is thin facing a Seattle offense that has heated up in the passing game the past few weeks.

Michael Bennett – Philadelphia likes to run the football and could find some space with Bennett still out with a knee injury. Seattle’s defense hasn’t been the same without their top lineman, but they’ve come up big when needed in the last two games.

Matchup to Watch

Russell Wilson is back! Hobbled by ankle and knee injuries for much of the season, Wilson was noticeably uncomfortable in the pocket and didn’t display his usual effectiveness at extending plays and getting outside the tackles. Because of it, the offense stumbled. But over the past two weeks, Wilson has seemingly got his mobility and elusiveness back and the Seahawks’ offense has thrived.

On Sunday night in an impressive road win over the Patriots, Wilson had his best game of the season throwing for 348 yards and three touchdowns without a pick. While still a non-factor in the run game, Wilson avoided on rushers several times to extend plays and create havoc in the Pats secondary. Pete Carroll changed his game plan following a loss to New Orleans, allowing Wilson to take shots downfield and it’s paid off. Seattle scored 31 points in each of the two games since with Wilson completing 45 of 63 passes for 630 yards and five scores without an interception. They’ll be put to the test against an Eagles defense that swallowed the league’s top ranked offense on Sunday, but Seattle is feeling good now that the offense is contributing.

Free ATS Pick

Wentz has made playing quarterback in the NFL look easy and he hasn’t been affected by the big stage, which is a major reason why he’s enjoyed so much success in his first season. He has tremendous poise for a rookie and won’t be rattled by the noise of the 12th Man. If the Eagles had this game at home I’d probably lean towards them, but it’s another story at the Link. The Seahawks have the best home field advantage in the game and feed off their raucous fans. The Seahawks don’t just want to beat their opponents, the want to hurt them. Not in an illegal sort of way, just make every hit count. When they get their shots at Wentz, you know he’ll feel it.

And that’s likely the difference in this one. Wentz becomes a little gun shy and while he’s been very good holding onto the football, a costly mistake is inevitable. And this is about the time of year Wilson and the Seahawks’ offense takes flight. They dismantled two very good defensive teams in Buffalo and New England, and with a C.J. Prosise adding a different dimension in the backfield and Thomas Rawls expected back in the lineup, the passing game could open even more. The spread is steep, but the Seahawks still have plenty to prove and they are in a good spot moving forward.

NFL Odds: Seahawks 30, Eagles 21
