Week 14 NFL Odds - Dallas Cowboys at New York Giants Game Preview

Cowboys-at-Giants-bm-tom

The Dallas Cowboys are slight road favorites on Sunday night as they visit the New York Giants on NBC in this Week 14 matchup. The Cowboys have the best record in the NFL at 11-1 and have clinched a playoff spot but they still have things to play for as they want to wrap up the NFC East title and home field advantage in the NFC. The Cowboys also want revenge as the Giants are the only team to beat Dallas this season as New York won 20-19 in Week 1.

This matchup in Week 14 of the regular season will take place on Sunday, December 11, 2016, at 8:30 p.m. ET at MetLife Stadium.

Dallas Cowboys -3
New York Giants +3
Over/Under 47.5

Odds Analysis

These teams met in Week 1 and it was Dallas a one-point home favorite with the total of 47.5. Things have definitely changed since the first meeting as now the Cowboys are laying three points on the road.

This line opened up at Dallas -3 on Sunday night and has moved a little bit on the money line to Dallas laying 3 points at -125. Oddsmakers simply hate to move off the number 3 in the NFL so it is unlikely that Dallas goes to 3.5. The total opened up at 47.5 and has seen no movement.

Injury Report

Jason Pierre-Paul – It doesn’t look good for Pierre-Paul to play in this game as he is listed as doubtful with a groin injury. Pierre-Paul has been a key player on the defensive line for New York this season and his absence would be a big loss.

Mark Herlich – The New York linebacker left last week’s game due to a concussion and he is questionable for Sunday night.

Coty Sensabaugh – The New York cornerback suffered a rib injury last week and is listed as questionable for this contest.

Revenge Angle

The Cowboys have lost just once this season and that came in Week 1 to the Giants at home. Both teams are much different now than they were then. “We’ve changed as a team, and they’ve changed as a team,” Dallas head coach Jason Garrett said. “Different guys are playing. There’s a lot of different factors that go into it, but there’s no question you use that game extensively to prepare for this one, really in all three phases.”

The Giants come into this game facing a lot of pressure as they could see their playoff position fade away. New York is 8-4 but there are rumblings in New York that head coach Ben McAdoo could be on the hot seat if the Giants choke away a playoff spot. The Giants didn’t look good last week in a loss to Pittsburgh. The Giants finish with games against Detroit, Philadelphia and Washington so nothing will come easy. “We won’t worry about that,” veteran cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie said. “You have to worry about the next game, it’s a divisional game, we are at home and we have to get back on the winning side.”

The Cowboys are rolling along scoring a lot of points and playing great defense as they rank 5th best in the league in points per game at 27.8 and 5th in fewest points allowed at 19. New York has gone 8-4 this season even though their offense has not topped 28 points in any game.

Free ATS Pick

Why are the Cowboys going to lose? They sure will be focused trying to avenge their only loss of the season and New York has shown nothing on offense that should worry Dallas. The Cowboys are 5-1 ATS in their last six road games. I will lay the points and take Dallas to win this game on Sunday night. The Over might also be worth a look as the Over is 7-2-1 in the last 10 meetings in New York between the two teams.

NFL Odds: Cowboys 28, Giants 21
