Masters champion Danny Willett +950 and Sergio Garcia +785 headline this week’s BMW International.
Both players made the cut at the U.S. Open, Willett tied for 37th and Garcia was in contention most of the week before two late bogeys derailed his chances and he settled for fifth. Both players have had success at Golf Club Larchenhof, Willett won in 2012 and Garcia won in 1998.
It is tough to attract elite players the week after a major and this week is no different. The betting field is average at best, there are a few top notch players but after that there is a big drop off in talent.
Other players to keep your eye in include Henrik Stenson +950, Joost Luiten +2200 and Andy Sullivan +2800. Stenson had to withdraw from last week’s U.S. Open for multiple injuries and that is worth monitoring going forward. Luiten needs some strong finishes in order to make the Ryder Cup squad and Sullivan is starting to find his game after being in a mini-slump for a few months.
Golf Club Larchenhof is the host course this week. It hosts the event every other year with Golf Club Munchen Eichenried. The Jack Nicklaus design has lots of water in play but gives the player plenty of space off the tee, putting pressure on the approach shots. The 7,229-yard par 72 is one of the shorter courses on the European Tour and the scores prove it. In five events hosted at Larchenhof, -19 and -20 were the winning scores and if the weather cooperates, we may see someone climb even deeper under par this year.

ODDS ANALYSIS
Danny Willett +950 versus Sergio Garcia +785
This is the power matchup of the week. Garcia will be a slight favorite, having played so well over the last month. Willett won here in 2012, at this venue and is due to get back in the winner’s circle. Garcia is drained from last week’s U.S. Open where he was in contention to the very end. The fatigue will show in his game early in the week and he will not be able to recover. Garcia’s slow start will pave the way for Willett. Willett beats Garcia this week.
Fabrizio Zanotti +7050 won this tournament the last time it was played at Golf Club Larchenhof and has shown good form the last month or so. In his last three starts, the Paraguayan has been rock solid, finishing no worse than T16. His ball-striking is always good, it’s the putter that holds him back. Zanotti is worth a look in all formats this week and offers gamers the best value on the board.
One player to shy away from this week is Bernd Wiesberger +3500. The talented Austrian is in a bit of a slump and his history playing in Germany is flawless, as in 0-2 in made cuts. Both times he’s played, both times he packed his bags up early. Until Wiesberger shows me some consistent form, I am fading him!
SLEEPER CITY
Pablo Larrazabal +5050 has won this tournament twice, including last year. His current form is not that good but his past history in Germany can’t be overlooked and he’s worth a look this week.
